What type of bustle are you having.

MrsJohnston, on June 29, 2014 at 8:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

So my dress came into the store and I went to try it on last week and it got me to thinking about what type of bustle I want.

Here is a photo of the dress and the bustle I want on a similar dress.

So ladies, what type of dress do you have and what type of bustle are you going with?

    I'm a bustle idiot, but I believe it's called a 3 point bustle.

I think it's called a ballroom under bustle, but I'm really no good at this stuff...basically, it gets rid of the train for the reception, so I'm happy.

I'm having a really hard time deciding. I really like the third photo that Ashley posted... but I just feel like every bustle will look weird with my dress.

I'm keeping an eye on this post. Hopefully more people will post photos!

Fit and flare with big puffy ruffled layers, so European bustle for my dress, not sure how many points yet (2nd fitting next week)

I have a ballgown so it required 16 points Smiley surprise !!! Someone on this forum said they knew someone who had a 21 point bustle so I guess I can't complain too much. It's a French-style bustle, but looks kind of different since it's a ballgown.

Originally I was going to go with the American bustle on my fit-and-flare, but my retired seamstress grandmother made a good point - an American bustle runs the chance of ripping the top layer of the dress if someone steps on it. So French bustle it is!

Mine was like a 9 pt. custom bustle. My dress swooped to the side, so it was a side bustle. My advice for anyone, pay attention when your seamstress shows you how to bustle it! I didn't and we couldn't get it quite right and it fell out all night...

I'm doing the second one @Ashely posted from pinterest... I think?

I'm not sure what it is called. It has like 9 loopies that have to tie underneath the dress and then like 6 hooks on the outside.

I made up my mind last night. I'm doing an Italian bustle. The third photo Ashley posted above. My dress has a similar fit and it has the line where it flares out. I think that this kind will look best with my dress.

    Your dress is so pretty!

I guess its called an English bustle? My train is really long so I might have to have a different kind but I like the English!

I'm going to an american (over) bustle with mine...I think the French bustle looks like it gives me a bubble butt!

Here's and old thread I found that may be helpful to some:

I had a French bustle. I didn't love it, but it wasn't awful. I had a mermaid gown.

I have an A-Line dress, I didn't realize I would need a bustle for it, otherwise I would've asked for no train. I'm not a fan of the bustled look.

I'm not sure what kind of bustle its called - but it plays on the bows in the back. Ask your seamstress what she thinks would look best on your type of dress. That's what I did since I have no idea haha
