What type of glue to use for my invitations??? Hayley!! please help!

Tiffany, on July 15, 2011 at 9:37 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

I am (finally!) Putting my DIY pocket fold invitations together and I was wondering what type of glue should I use to mount the actual invite to the pocketfold?? Also, I have a 2inch by 2 inch monogram square that willl go on the outside, to essentially close the pocket fold, but I don't know how to actually afix it with out gluing it down (don't want people to have to rip it open...

I hope this makes sense! Please help!

No glue- use double sided tape. I made my pocket fold invites that way and it works perfectly...plus no messy glue or bubbling of the paper. Good luck!

Use glue dots! They are SO easy and make things look so neat and professional. They sell them in craft stores and places like Target and Staples.

Double sided permanent tape gun saved me. Michaels - 20 bucks plus refills . Made it much easier, less mess, plus I am using it for other projects (putting together programs etc.

Make sure to get permanent tape. I got the restickable/repositionable glue dots to seal my pocket folds. That worked well, didn't rip them like the tape or glue would.

Depending on what you're piecing together, go with either double sided tape or glue dots; I swear by them for card making. Smiley smile

@Hayley - Yes they are AWESOME! I learned about them while in my scrapbooking phase. Smiley smile They also have non-permanent repositionable tape as well, you can find it all in the scrapbooking supplies area of a craft store. You have to look on the label to be sure it says "Permanent" or "Repositionable"

For inside my invites i used spray adhesive:

    http://www.michaels.com/3M-Super-77%E2%84%A2-Spray-Adhesive/gc0265,default,pd.html

"3M Super 77™ is ideal for bonding most craft applications such as paper, cardboard, fabric, wood, foil and many other surfaces. This fast, aggressive tack adhesive will not soak in or wrinkle your project. Overall, Super 77™ is the most versatile spray adhesive. Typical coverage from the 10.75 oz can is 140 square feet."

for the monogram that goes on the outside, i used re-positionable glue dots

I used the gluedots that are a light blue so you can see where the glue went. I made pocketfold invites and everything turned out looking amazing. I got a sample invite for free that I used as a template to trace. I had people ask me what company I used for my invites and I told them I did it myself. It was awesome and a huge compliment that they thought a professional did it!
