What type of pens should I use to hand address our invitations?

Crazyinlove<3, on April 21, 2016 at 5:49 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 38

Anyone have tips about which pens to use to address invitations? I don't feel like paying anyone extra to do it and I feel like printing them would take forever. Plus, this way it is more personal.

It depends on how fancy and how much money.

Cheap: Felt tip pens are nice.

Fancier: Fountain pens with an italic nib. You can get a Lamy Joy 1.1 stub nib for around $20. There are also hundreds of different inks you can get for it. If you want some suggestions, let me know.

I used the Papermate InkJoy gel in the .7mm tip size. Not as man color variations, but the price is affordable. I work for a pen company, so I'm constantly trying new pens daily. This is my favorite!

If I were doing mine (have them printed when my invitations are done), there is only one pen I wrote with. It's the Pilot Better Retractable in fine point. I can't even buy them locally anymore. I have to order them on line. Probably not "fancy" enough for invitations, though.

Did the sharpie smear at all or bleed through?

I really didn't like the gel pens. The ink wasn't consistent or smooth. I went with Le Pens from the Paper source. I was really happy with the gray pen. It was one of the few gray pens I found.

Honestly we used those G2 black ink 0.5mm pens... Helps you to write small and doesn't smear as bad (I'm lefty so I know these things lol)

I used paint pens I got at A.C. Moore. Pen-touch 0.7mm extra fine point.

I'm using extra fine tip gold sharpies. I ordered a bunch of different gold pens from Amazon to test and those where the best for what I want to do. I've done a couple test runs and they didn't smear or bleed, but my envelopes are navy so idk if it would bleed through on white.

I used a Gelly Roll pen in a purple shimmer color. Bought it from Michael's for a couple bucks and it wrote beautifully and looked great against my gold envelopes.

I also used an extra fine Sharpie. They don't bleed and they also don't smear. I even dripped water on an envelope and it didn't bleed.

I would have NEVER put so much consideration into something like this. Interesting.. hahah

Are you going to just write normally or try calligraphy or something? I wouldnt stress over this too much. Any nice black, inky pen should do the trick.

I used 2mm calligraphy pens although it ran out of ink towards the end so I used a fine point sharpie for the last 2.

I hand address hundreds of envelopes a month. I love LePens and extra fine or ultra fine sharpies.

I used a very fine tip sharpie and it worked well on our invites. I went through 2 of them addressing all the invites.
