What type of print do i need

Genny, on March 1, 2021 at 3:44 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11
I purchased signage on Etsy. I would like to make one sign 16x20 with no frame. I assume a poster is too thin to stand alone on an easel. What do I need to purchase instead of poster? Thanks!

Take the file to a local Staples/OfficeMax to have it printed on thick posterboard

Do you have a poster or do you have a digital file you want to print?

You can get a poster dry mounted onto foam core at Michaels or likely any frame shop. It will be enough to stand on its own but will be lightweight and might blow in the wind if not secured to an easel. You could also just purchase an inexpensive poster frame, which would be a bit heavier and also provide some weather protection from light rain.

For something sturdier I would try mounting to masonite or styrene, but I'm not sure Michaels can do that. However if you are getting the image printed yourself you can look into printers that offer that option.

I would get a thick poster/foam board. We had three large signs printed for our wedding. I got them from VistaPrint.

Thank you, Veronica! Do you think VistaPrint had reasonable pricing?

We checked with VistaPrint, Office Depot and Staple's and VistaPrint had the best pricing. I had also previously purchased items from VistaPrint so I knew they were going to be good quality.

Thank you for the help, Kari! I have a couple digital files that I would like to print. I am trying to be super cost effective if possible. I am glad you mentioned it blowing away because the ceremony is outside. One sign I would like is about sitting wherever.

Awesome, I will look into them. Maybe I can find an online promo?

They tend to have a lot of sales.

Highly recommend this option. If you end up printing a poster and gluing it to a foam board, use spray adhesive instead of liquid glue to avoid wrinkles. Vistaprint had great prices and reliable printing. I've ordered plenty from them.

If you have digital files, I would print directly onto a sturdier surface or have the printing company you choose do the mounting for you (that way if it gets messed up, its on them and they will replace it vs you paying to print it, having the mounting process go awry, and then having to pay to redo everything).

Many photo and stationary printing sites have a variety of options. If you already have a company selected for your wedding invitations and other printed materials I would see what they offer.
