What veil goes with this dress?

beautyofdreams, on September 30, 2015 at 1:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

This is my dress (on a model). I know I want a cathedral long veil but that's all i know. I'm not sure what type of veil would look best with the dress. Plain tulle, Juliet Cap, Horsehair trim, lace? Suggestions and pictures welcomed! I need some advice and what direction i should be headed with a veil for this gown!

I would say either plain tulle or a very simple edging. Do you want any sparkle added to your overall look?

I would keep it very simple, the dress makes it's own statement.

@Laura Yes! I would love to add sparkle. Do you have an idea of how to do so?

You could get a veil that is trimmed with rhinestones or other beading. Or get a sparkly comb to go along with the veil.

Plain Tulle and horsehair trim options? Sounds like plain tulle may be better...

Hi @beautyofdreams - Oh my gosh, your dress is incredible! I agree with the other ladies - keep the veil simple.

I think the plain tulle is perfect -- can you try something like that on with your dress before you purchase it so that you can see for yourself if you love it??

@WW Christina Thanks! Thats a good suggestion. I already have my dress. I heard Davids Bridal will let you bring in your dress to try on petticoats with it to make sure you get the right one. I wonder if I can bring in my dress and try and on veils. Anyone know?

I agree with the plain tulle, long veil suggestions. I don't think the veil needs any embellishment. The dress really stands out, so the veil can just be a more subtle accessory.

I agree with plain tulle - but I would try it on with a cathedral length veil - that dress isn't what I typically see with a dress like that, though... i think that's what others may be hinting at about trying it before you buy. You may find that it overwhelms your frame, or gets caught on the dress when you walk... just make sure to try it out first, so you're not disappointed if you order something and it doesn't work.

@Rebecca Thanks thats a really good point! I'll be sure to try it on! When I bought the dress I also tried on jewelry, veil, etc and I liked it with the long veil but that was a while ago and I don't think I did a lot of walking in it, which is a really good point. I'll definitely try it on with the gown before buying!

@MzRosaLu Thanks! I agree a understated veil might be better for this dress!

Every time you post a picture of your dress, I swoon. This is seriously gorgeous - do you have any photos of you in it?!

As far as veil - I agree with others, either plain tulle or horsehair to match the bottom. a shorter veil (fingertip maybe) might look better since the bottom is so full. Definitely go try some on with your dress.

@Raelyn I don't have any pictures of me in it available right now but I am always looking at pictures of other real brides in it! Here are a few real brides and they look amazing!

Omg beautiful. It looks great on you. Awesome choice! I would defiantly choose something that doesn't go past your waste because you don't want to take away from the fabulous bottom.

You could do either a plain edge or one with a bit of a sparkle/beaded edge, or you could do a horsehair edge seeing as that's the bottom of your dress... http://www.laurajayne.com/lucille-fingertip-crystal-veil-p-167.html or http://www.laurajayne.com/denyse-two-tier-horse-hair-veil-p-147.html or http://www.laurajayne.com/storm-cascade-crystal-border-veil-p-178.html

Your dress is gorgeous! I would do a simple tulle cathedral veil with this to allow the dress to make it's own statement.
