What would you change if you had unlimited budget

Christine, on November 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18

I would have loved to have my reception on the ocean, specifically at the Chatham Bars Inn down the Cape. It is perfect, but sadly way outside my budget. So instead our venue is on a lake, but at the end of the day I will still get to marry FH, so really it’s fine.

Is there anything you would change if money was no object?

We would've gone with one of our top two venues. One venue looked like the old wine country, but the room rental alone was $3,500, plus around another $5,000 for catering and $2,500 for the bar. http://bellaterre.com/ in case your interested in seeing it, it's absolutely gorgeous. The other venue we loved was the Magnolia Hotel in Omaha. Unfortunately they gave us a quote of $21,000 for the room, catering and bar. That's more than our entire budget.

Don't get me wrong, we do really like our venue, but if budget wasn't an issue we would've gone with one of those two... probably the vineyard.

Also we would've sprung for the ridiculous flower estimates we received and would pay for travel costs for guests as well as the dress/tux costs for the b.p. Currently we're footing the bill for hair and makeup, but we just can't budget in all of the dresses and tuxes as well.

Definitely the menu & bar! I love our venue, so I wouldn't change that. I would definitely also have a firework finale!

I cannot, honestly, imagine spending any more money on this than I already am. lol Not that I have an unlimited budget, but I'm at a saturation point (probably because I'm writing all the checks right now).

I would pay travel expenses for everyone.

ETA: and I would have chartered the boat entirely, rather than the private deck.

I really don't know. I'm really happy with all of my vendors. I would have one of the fancy florists do my flowers, but I think thats it! Oh- and a full bar instead of beer and wine.

If someone gave me money and told me I have to spend it on the wedding, there are definitely things that I could spend it on. There were a lot of venues we liked that were out of our budget. I also would probably add a videographer.

However I think we are already spending a lot of money on our wedding and wouldn't really want to spend more. If I had more money I would want to spend it on something else besides the wedding. We really want to buy a house soon.

I'd rent that private island in Florida and fly my guests there for the wedding.

*The rental was like $100,000. And you had to get there by boat.

Yeah I'd pay for travel for everyone, including a car service for when my girls were in town. And I would have upped my decor. And added a couple hours of dancing.

We would cover all costs for our BP. The ceremony cocktail hour and reception would be at The St. Regis in Dana Point.

No much. I would have a completely open bar instead of a limited bar.... I would up our photographers from 9 hours to all day. But that is about it really.

I wouldn't change much. Love our venue, our band, our food. We are doing this all on a limited budget. Venue is an American Legion post with beautiful outdoor grounds. So that is cheap. Band is friends with FHs step mom. She volunteered to pay for that and they gave her a discount because she knows the band well. We are DIYing the food because I have a family of amazing cooks. The one thing I would change is our ceremony seating. Just ugly chairs that came with the venue. Also, we're having my cousin video record the whole day, but I would love a professional videographer. FH and I talked about giving the footage to someone professional to edit when we have the money in the future.

I came here to say I wouldn't change anything but I like the way you ladies think.

I would have paid for everything for my girls for sure. More expensive food choices, though I did love our caterer they had "upgrade" options. Hire a wedding planner and a videographer. Maybe pay for an after party.

I really like our venue and it's not cheap, however if I had an unlimited budget I would've found a castle or something along those lines to get married in :o)

I think I would just add more food (like a brunch the next day or a welcome dinner), and have a completely open bar. I'm pretty pleased with everything else.

I would fly our guests back to Santorini where he proposed and we would have done the whole wedding there.

So far I love the vendors and venue we have right now. I probably would pay for everyone's travel/hotel expenses and have some pre-wedding and post-wedding events.

Wedding Planner for sure... I would have them do everything. I'd give them my colours and inspiration and have them put together a designer wedding. And as most others have said, I would upgrade the food choices and pay for any travel expenses.
