What would you do?

Futuremrsm, on November 13, 2019 at 11:19 AM Posted in Planning 0 11
So I am so grateful for my FH family. His mom and step-dad have offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner. Today his mom talked to me and said we can pick two options.

She said we can have it at a hall, that charges X amount of money per person, and would end up being around 2k. OR we can have it at a firehouse hall (his step dad is a firefighter so its free) and they would get it catered and supply the liquor. Then whatever money would be left for the 2k we can have to save for a house or use toward the wedding.

The only dilemma is that the firehouse I guess wouldn't be as nice as a formal dinner, but I'm not sure our families would care. Would you take the nicer dinner or would you take the money?

Id do the fire house just cuz i feel like the rehearsal should be more casual and relaxed when everyone is going to be in mostly uncomfortable clothes the next day for hours on end

I would take the money honestly. We are having pizza and snacks and beer at the hotel where we are staying. Cheap, easy, no pressure.

I'd go more casual. That's what we're doing. I feel like the actual wedding is supposed to be the big event and it's not necessary to drop a fortune on the rehearsal dinner too. We're going to a really good, laid back, restaurant that has some outdoor games and we'll eat, drink, and hang out the day before. There's no sense in making everyone get super dressed up, give toasts, stress about décor, etc. if you don't have toSmiley smile

Fire house for sure. A rehearsal doesn’t need to be formal and honestly, I would prefer more casual anyway.

Take the money forsure! You're wedding will be elegant enough and you won't need anything fancy as I think a more casual night before a big day is more of what I would prefer!

Firehouse and money. Plus, I think it is neat how the Firehouse incorporates your FH’s family.

Definitely the firehouse and money. I think the RD should be more casual anyway especially if the wedding is formal. We had a very formal wedding so decided to go with a casual, laid back vibe for our RD. We bought out a small BBQ joint and I wore a comfy sweater and jeans.

    Casual.

ILs offered to throw us a rehearsal dinner at their apartment. It was *super* chill, and absolutely wonderful. It's a nice time to relax, get to know the families, and not worry about how formal everything is.

So, yeah, do the fire hall!

    Firehouse for sure.

    1. Save the money, trust me you'll want/need it later.

    2. How awesome and unique of a location!!!
