What’s a good price for wedding ceremony guitarist?

Jenny, on November 5, 2022 at 7:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Hi Ladies! Is anyone having a guitarist for your ceremony? Im looking for one that’s around $400 but it seems like the average cost is $600 for 2 hours. Is it unreasonable to think this is expensive? And is it rude to ask if they have any flexibility to do it for $100 less?

I don't think anyone doing who normally would play for ceremonies would do anything below $300. The cost of the interruption of one's weekend would be more than $100. Plus, they have to coordinate with you and possibly practice for the event. Maybe if you check with guitar teachers you might find someone who is more of a student but would be capable of doing a ceremony for a lower than standard price.

Hey, I think 250 is reasonable for a ceremony. Your post mentions two hours… would they be playing at cocktail hour as well? For two hours I think 500-600 is reasonable.

Good luck! Let us know what you come up with.

I paid $500 for a harpist to play at the ceremony. Though, I'll say I live in a major metro area.

We paid $460 for a violinist and cellist to play for 2 hours during ceremony and cocktail hour. We live in the Bay Area (CA).

We paid $550 for a keyboard and flute during the ceremony, the flutist switched to saxophone for the cocktail hour. So for about 2 hours. We're in NJ for geographical reference

That’s the lowest price I’ve heard for 2 people! Did you find them online on gigsalad or another website?

    Yes.

I auditioned another harpist who only charge $300, but there was a clear difference in skill.

My venue includes a musician for the ceremony so I’m not sure what the cost is, but to add musicians to other events, like a brunch or reception, it’s $750 for a 3-hour block, so 250 per hour.
