What's a wedding registry..

MrsBartonToBe, on January 11, 2018 at 2:47 PM Posted in Registry 0 7
1Since I haven’t been to a wedding in about a decade, I honestly don’t remember ever hearing about wedding resgistries. Should I make one (already did just in case)? And how do you announce the registry?

If you want one, then absolutely you should make one! To announce your registry, most wedding websites have a spot to link them. If you're having a bridal shower registry information can go on the shower invite. It is considered in poor taste to reference your registry on your actual wedding invitations, however, as it can be seen as greedy and gift-grabby.

If you want one then you should make on (or two). I'm sure there are things in your home you'd like to upgrade! So, usually, the registry can go on your wedding website if you have one. Otherwise I've seen inserts in shower invitations or on the shower card itself about where the bride is registered at. In this case whoever is hosting and in charge of invitations would make sure to include your registry somewhere in there. I know at Target, Bed Bath and Beyond and other places you can print out little cards that say you're registered there that the bridal shower host can include in the invites.

I agree with what's already been said. For me, I included a page on my wedding website with my Registry information (BB&B, Amazon, and Zola). On my STDs and invites, I included my wedding website info. MOH will be putting on the Bridal Shower invites where I am registered.

FH absolutely HATES the idea of a registry, but I figure if guests want to get us gifts (no saying they HAVE to), then it might as well be something we like and can use, right??

If there's stuff that you guys want or need or you want to get an upgraded version of something, then yes, you can register.

You don't really announce registries, though. Don't mention gifts on the wedding invitation or STD. If anyone is interested in getting you a physical gift, they'll ask you if you are registered anywhere and at that point, it's appropriate to answer with the name of the place(s) you registered. If you have a wedding website, it's okay to have a spot where you link your registries (most people know that if they want to find out if you are registered to check your wedding website). If you have a bridal shower, it's okay for the host(s) to state where you are registered on the shower invitation (because the point of the shower is to shower you with gifts and because showers are hosted by someone other than you, so they're the ones mentioning the gifts, not you).

On your wedding website, then tell your bridal party, your mom and your FS's mom. There's still a lot of word of mouth that goes on.

Hi Chelsea! I moved this discussion to the Registry group so you can get the best answers Smiley smile

The best way to share your registry information is by word of mouth (wedding guests asking you or your family members), or by adding a link to your registry on your wedding website!
