What's engraved on your cake cutter?

Tiffany, on October 24, 2012 at 2:48 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 18

I can't decide if I shoudl have "Our's is a never ending love story" or just our names and the date written on it. I'd like both but that seems like too much. Thoughts?

We did just our names and wedding date. I like the idea of a saying that is a nice touch, never considered that.

I had our wedding logo engraved on ours. I guess that would fall under the "name & date" category. I think the names and the quotes would work for you though. The cutter is usually wide enough. The knife on the other hand...not so much.

Ours is going to have my parents wedding date on it Smiley smile We were going to get a set but then FH had a great idea. We are going to use a piece of the cake set from each of our parents weddings (only my parents set was engraved) and tie ribbons in our wedding colors on them. So we will have an heirloom from each side.

Probably nothing. What would I do with an engraved cake cutter after the wedding? Probably lose it

Well a lot of the stuff my daughter is doing is very generic. like her signs say just married not their names. They figured they could PIF later with generic stuff and everyone knows their names she said. There is another couple coming up after them to get married so I know they will pass them on.

She would do "ours is a never ending love story" so she could use it on christmas etc.

I really do love my cousins cutters we laugh several times a year and have for years.

@ Megan that's a great idea. Too bad FH's parents are divorced and I suspect that neither of our parents had cake cutters when they got married. Both went to the JP.

@MJ My sister still uses her's for every event, kids birthdays, etc and I like the idea of being able to bring them out for the nostalgia. But being able to share them with someone else is also great.

@Sandy..really? Lose it? Why wouldn't you USE it? (shakes head). We plan on getting ours engraved..if we remember to do it before the wedding. If not, we'll do it after. Maybe our monogram and date...and it'll get used a LOT.

How about "ours is a never ending love story" and your wedding date.

    All the best...

I'm with Sandy... we're just using the venue's cake cutting stuff.

If you do go with the first option, "ours" doesn't have an apostrophe Smiley smile

We used my parents cake knife from their wedding. A church my mom had been working at had it engraved for her as a shower present... too bad they spelt my dad's name wrong on it!! (Reid instead of Reed). They still use it all the time, and has been used at several other family weddings as well.
