What's the best wedding registry to use?

Michelle, on December 3, 2019 at 12:38 PM Posted in Registry 0 9

I started on WeddingWire but it seems a bit confusing. If I click registry, it'll ask me to add retailers. If I register at several different places, I feel like I can end up with multiples of the same items. Anyone have any other suggestion? I've never done this before. Also, am I supposed to make a separate one for a bridal shower? I have most things I need for my house...I'd like one that has the honeymoon fund option.

In my culture, we mostly give money so it's not considered rude lol but for those that aren't a part of the Asian culture and prefer registries, I'd like something set up to what they're familiar with.

Our registry is through Amazon and we love it! They have literally everything. We get a 20% completion discount after the wedding to use towards anything sold and shipped through Amazon and they're also partnered with The Knot where we have our wedding website so a percentage of every gift purchased goes to the charity of our choice. Win win win situation!

If you don't want physical gifts, I would advise not to register and people will take the hint to gift money. We toyed with the idea of a honeymoon fund until we realized how rude most people find them to be. Instead we took the opportunity to update our housewares like bedding, towels, and kitchen appliances.

As for a bridal shower, I would have a bridal brunch or something along those lines since a shower is intended for physical gifts. Our wedding registry is the same as the registry for my bridal shower, I'm pretty sure this is the norm Smiley smile

I used the knot tbh. WeddingWire is great for vendors and the forums, but I used the knot for my wedding registry and site. It allows you to add the registries to your site so people just click through from one place.

Are you able to just add on items from Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc. to that single page so it is marked if gotten? Thanks!

I've seen good things about Zola, does that do the same?

Yeah! It keeps track of all of your registries as a master list so long as you synced them up with the knot. We have Amazon, Target, and Bed Bath and Beyond all together, and people can select the item to buy it on the actual site. Plus you can see what's bought and what's not. They make it really easy to use - you just have to select your store and then find your registry, and it'll also tell you if something is no longer available and update as you add things.

I'm using Zola and I really like it! It's easy to add things and track. You can also add money funds, donation funds (for charity), gift cards people can purchase for you and experiences (2 tickets to a football game). I also added a bunch of gifts but we have a lot of stuff already since we are well into our 30s and already live together.

What I did was create that registry through the retailer's website and then link it to my WW website. I didn't create the registry through WW. We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Amazon. I did not create a separate one for the bridal shower. We just told the guests that I was registered at the above. We did not put the same items on both registries so we will not get doubles of stuff.

We did Bed Bath and Beyond, Crate & Barrel, and Pottery Barn. We linked the 3 registries on our website. We did not register for any duplicates so each registry had different things.

Thanks all. I think I’ll go to Zola. I’ll also be taking into consideration to not list the same thing twice.
