I'm a huge fan of the Aaptiv app. It's gloriously diverse and has a ton of different workouts that you can do at the gym or at home. It's $10/month for a subscription, but worth it.

Also I recommend WeightWatchers. My biggest problem was food, and tracking calories wasn't working for me. I think WeightWatchers is easier.

Alot of people gave great ideas. I also use myfitnesspal to track calories. Drink lots of water. Diet is 80% of what is needed, but that 20% of exercise would definitely do the job. The key thing is to set a goal and stick to it. It can definitely get done but consistency is key. Having a partner that also wants the same goal or close to it, also would help. But it really will come down to what YOU do. So focus on yourself and what you like. Also Jillian Micheals boost your metabolism, is my go to DVD. I am trying to exercise at least 4x a week. That includes the gym and DVDs. But that works for me, because doing the same thing over and over bores me. Good luck!

I used my fitbit to make sure I got 12,000 steps daily and meal prepped breakfast/dinner to 50% veggies, 25% whole grains, 25% lean meats. I snacked on fruits or veggies and hummus. I think I did that for the last 4 weeks and lost 8 lbs which is perfect for me because I'm 6'0 and that put me at 170 lbs.

I'm a dietitian technician and I'm marrying an exercise science major and we are both former college athletes - so lots of experience and knowledge with all this stuff!!!

Interval workouts are the best workouts to lose weight - I personally love running so I will sprint one telephone pole, jog to the next one, and keep doing that for my whole workout. There are plenty of other ways to get interval workouts though so find something you like and go at it really hard for a set amount of time and then go light for a set amount of time. Don't just go hard and when you feel like it go easy and when you feel ready go hard again, you will end up either burning out too fast or just going easy too much. Also, the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn so any muscle building workouts are also a plus! And last, there's no such thing as a "7-minute workout", you need a good half hour minimum for it to actually be worth it.

As far as diet goes, cut out simple sugars and try to eat less carbs in general (they aren't demon foods, they are actually really important so you shouldn't completely cut them out) but look for carbs with lots of fiber and not much if any added sugar. Also, try eating lower sodium to drop any extra water weight you might be carrying around - a lot of times that can make you lose 5+ pounds quick! And the rest of it should be portion control and eating less processed food, even if it says it's the healthy version (it's still probably not that great).

Eating clean foods will help, along with weight lifting and cardio (you will not get bulky). If you are really trying to lose you can go low carb.. it's terrible though I hate low carb, but you will lose weight. It is not sustainable long term though. For food think lots of lean protein (fish, chicken) and green sides.

I am in the same boat as you! I found that I make a playlist from workout videos on youtube and watch a different one each time I work out. I do arms, legs, abs, and then cardio videos.. switching it up every day to keep it interesting! I actually love it. I look forward to it.

Eating less and exercising more, unfortunately, will not get you very far. You'll want to make sure you're eating the right foods (of course quantity is also important). Exercising too much can create extra stress in your body, producing too much cortisol and causing your body to actually hang on to excess weight. I can offer free health coaching to anyone looking to lose weight. I've lost 50 pounds so far and have 10-15 more to go using an optimal health program that offers consistent, predictable results.
