What's the craziest thing you have seen at a wedding?

FinallyMrsSloan, on September 29, 2014 at 4:58 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 50

Maybe it was the dresses, the centerpieces, or the food. What did you think was the craziest thing?

Parents brought their savage children, parents got drunk and decided *some imaginary fairy* would watch their kids for them, kids ran WILD, so the parents locked them in the women's bathroom. It - was - nuts.

Omg, gray cat, that is insane!! That's partly why I said no kids- sometimes parents don't understand to get up and remove the kids from the situation...

It was at a country club and they had fancy bathrooms where you walk in and there is a "parlor" area with seating and the actual stalls were in a second area off the parlor. The parents locked the kids in the parlor area but guests could still access the stalls from a second door. So, all you could hear were these kids screaming and fighting when you went to the bathroom. It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. The kids ran wild and tore things up for over an hour before they were locked in the bathroom.

Fh and I ended up serving the food (buffet style- people waited in line with plates, he separated ribs and I scooped soup) while the bridal party took pics. A groomsman was doing it before that. While I didn't mind....I thought it was kinda crazy

It was just after the reception but my gf and her guy got super trashed but when he wanted to go to the room she sent him away so she could keep partying and then fell asleep outside their hotel room door in the hall. my FH had to pick her up while i convinced the front desk to give me an extra key, so we could pour her into bed. shes like a sister to me, an embarrassing sister.

The whole wedding had a crazy cult-ish feeling to it and lasted like an hour and a half because Every. Single. Person in the large wedding party said a long prayer to the couple, followed by the parents, followed by married couples, followed by anyone else who wanted to give a prayer before the whole thing was over. There was lots of talk about the "wedding bed", so much so that I felt like we were about to see a bed presented to them as we watched. The readings were from Revelations. Also, my friend's (groom) mother's prayer was something like "I cannot wait for the babies Tyler will put in your womb." I was terribly freaked out and disgusted. My FH was like "Let's keep this program for when we get married and we can use it as a guideline of what NOT to do." Then the reception was more praying. I ended up having an anxiety attack and had to leave in the middle of speeches (a.k.a. prayers). Also my hypoglycemia did not help me because I was starving and they only had small appetizers because the couple was leaving after their first dance to get on a plane for the honeymoon. I apologized the whole way back to our hotel (an hour away) to my FH because I dragged him to that wedding. Two months later the wife was murdered, but that's another story. So yeah, I had a reason to feel weird at that wedding.

Craziest thing was my cousin's wedding many years ago, but I'll never forget. The bridal party danced down the aisle like it was a Soul Train line. I mean they were getting down. The guys had on tuxedos with mock necks. Can't remember what my cousin had on. But that wasn't the worst of it.

I was single then and went with my father, and it was me, him and my uncle that drove together. Well the reception was at my cousin's house. Her apartment was TINY and it was in the winter and although it was cold and icy outside, the heat was on so high that we were all roasting. Even with the window open, we were hot. And there was food made, but there were NO beverages. Me, my uncle and father went to a local store and chipped in and bought liquor, beer, soda, water, ice and cups.

I bought her a 24-piece glass set for her wedding gift and was tempted not to give it to her because I help pay for her reception. But my uncle told me to be nice and I gave it to her.

    That's what happened :/

The craziest thing I saw at a wedding was the groom's father and brother trying to slip cards into their pockets (of the jeans they wore to the wedding). We (my sister and I) knew they were not putting the cards in a safe place (as they tried to claim when we asked what there were doing) as both the bride (our cousin) and groom mentioned that he was on the verge of cutting ties with his family due to their actions and they weren't sure if they (bride and groom) even wanted his family there.

I was the craziest thing at a wedding once. It was my step-sister's wedding and I was 17. I was the only family member not in the wedding party and was pretty upset at being left out. My cousin and brother kept feeding me drinks, and not knowing anything about mixing drinks and being angry, I had WAY too much. I started puking in the bathroom, accidentally punched my sister (the bride) when she came in to check on me (I flail when I puke), and the DJ ended up carrying me out. My parents had left early to baby sit the grand kids (they were choked about that), and my step mom had to come back and take me home. Then when I got home I was black out drunk and my dad had to carry me up the stairs, but he hit my head really hard on the banister. My parents almost took me to the hospital cause they thought I had alcohol poisoning. They ended up basically taking turns staying up with me. I don't remember anything after leaving the reception, but woke up with my pj's on and in bed.

Now, somehow 11 years later and no one has let me live it down. My cousin even got accused of having ill-intentions by feeding me drinks and no one speaks to him anymore. it turned into a huge shit show. My parents were awesome about it though, I didn't get in trouble or anything. They said the hang over was punishment enough, and they took some embarrassing pictures of me. They're the only ones who have let it go. My step sisters still bring it up quite often.

Silan.... wow.. 11 years! Tell her to get over it!

Craziest thing I have seen at a wedding was the groom leaving to change out of his tux and not coming back for almost 2 hours! He missed most of his own reception!

I once went to a wedding where the bride and groom were fighting outside of the church..... The mother of the bride asked everyone to "Please be patient as they worked out a few things" IDK why I stood, but 2 hours later the couple showed up to their ceremony.... At the reception they both got REALLY drunk and left hours before the reception was over.

@Munashi, one of their GM allegedly murdered her on the orders of her husband, my bestfriend. He ended up recanting his confession and we have been waiting for his trial for 2 years. It should happen in November this year. My friend has not been charged with anything and claims he didn't do it. Since he hasn't been charged, I still text with him occasionally, but I only hang out with him if my MOH is with us because we were all best friends. She was late to his wedding so she missed the whole ceremony and refuses to think he had anything to do with it. I'm still not 100% certain so I keep my distance. I've already told him that I couldn't invite him to our wedding for the sake of him and everyone. It's crazy. Rolling Stone did an article about the whole thing, too.

Melissa: do you have a link to that article?

as for craziest thing ever seen at a wedding....I guess I'd have to say the dummy cake my cousin cut for pictures. but I'm not against dummy cakes, and it wasn't her idea. it was a Michigan wedding, and last I knew Michigan as the strictest food rules of anywhere. found out later they wouldn't let them actually cut the cake they would serve guests.

the bad part was that it was obvious they didn't cut the cake, and that there was no way they served from it. the cake they posed with was yellow, and the cake that was served was white! I was much younger, so I questioned the staff on why were we being served cake other than the wedding cake? thought maybe they were trying to scam my cousin!

the whole cake explanation was a 'we Don't talk about that' subject for years. much like why my cousin's parents anniversary cake never had how long they had been married. would have had to explain how my oldest cousin was born about 3 years before they ever met! Smiley winking

I recently saw a wedding video shared on Facebook. It was a video of the 'twerking contest' they had at the wedding. Won't be using that idea lol. The video was every bit as bad as it sounds........

Here's the link. Keep in mind a lot of this is the media twisting his past because I read this like "what Tyler in high school are they talking about? It's not this one." If you read the comments, you can see he couldn't help but comment on it. People call him out since it's anonymous.

@GrayCatVintage that is exactly why we're not inviting my cousin's kids (and as a result, none of the cousins' kids), well, less the locking in a washroom somewhere. She's notorious for letting her kids roam because "it's all family, someone will watch them".

I was at a wedding once where one of the bridesmaids got a little too drunk and asked her date to dance. He said no so she said that if he didn't, she would lay on the floor and flail her arms and legs and throw a tantrum. He continued to say no, so she proceeded to lay on the floor and throw a full on tantrum ... it was pretty insane. That girl must have been super crazy ...

I should probably mention that girl was me :/
