What’s the plan after the reception???

Cherise, on April 11, 2021 at 9:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 19
We are at the planning stage where we decide where to go & what to do after the reception ends? Throw an after party? Go back to the hotel? We’re not going directly to our honeymoon destination and reception ends at 5pm. Help!! What did you all do??

    Hiii! Congrats!

Is there somewhere that maybe everyone can go? Like a nice bar?

You could find a restaurant for everyone to go to for dinner, or you could throw an after party at a bar starting at like 8pm or 9pm to give time for people to eat dinner beforehand and change into something else if they choose!

With your reception ending so early, you have lots of options! You could meet your guests at a restaurant for dinner and drinks. You could have a romantic dinner with your new husband at a nice restaurant, then meet guests who want to continue the party out at a bar. You could go bar hopping or you could organize a pub crawl! You said you have a hotel room that night, so you could also have guests go back to your hotel for drinks an d late night snacks or pizza, if it is a small crowd. Or, you could just spend a romantic evening with your husband!

We're doing an unhosted after party at our favorite bar, then staying the night in a hotel after.

My wedding ends pretty late in the evening. So we’re going right back to the hotel and then waking up early to go the airport to embark on our honeymoon.

We got married at a hotel which had a bar so we had an after party at the bar. Guests had the choice if they wanted to attend or not. Our wedding was over at 10 pm and we left the bar at about 1 am, but some of our guests choose to stay at the bar even later than that.

Hi! My daughter had brunch wedding/reception which also ended around 5:00. They had several out of state guests, so they rented a party bus which drove/toured around (we live near SF) and did some bar hopping.

After our ‘reception’ which is a styled beach picnic for just the two of us... we plan on making sandcastles and running towards the ocean before calling it a night at our AirBNB which overlooks the beach area we would have gotten married on! So excited!

I have been to many weddings that ended around that time with nothing afterwards. Guests went home after the couple left, regardless if ends at 5pm or 10pm. We decided that while weddings in our families are very short at 2-3 hrs max for just cake or the rare dinner and the "industry standard" of dinner and dancing at 4 hrs isn't that much longer, we want to spend as much time as possible with our guests and don't own a big enough space to invite everyone to our home so a longer party is the compromise. For that reason, we specifically looked for venues that allow outside catering of our choice and no curfew. Because shortening the reception to go elsewhere to keep celebrating doesn't make sense to us when we can stay in one place and don't have to figure out transportation and parking for a second location.

You have plenty of time if you wanted to throw some kind of party!

We are getting married at a venue in the city, downtown. We are going to "hit the town" after our send off. So we will all (or whoever wants to) will go out and bar hop in our wedding attire after the reception. We all have hotel blocks at a nearby hotel in the city so we plan to just go out and have a fun continuation of the reception!

We're not planning on an after-party. We have our reception hall until 11 pm, and I have a feeling it will have cleared out. We've stayed at weddings until the very end, and there has never been anyone left. We'll more than likely just go back to our hotel room. We still need to reschedule our honeymoon, so we may or may not be leaving the day after.

Our reception will end by 6:30pm and we aren't doing anything with guests afterwards. The reception won't include a full dinner, only hors d'oeuvres, so we'll likely go out for dinner. The hotel suite we're staying in has a hot tub on the balcony that we plan to use that evening to help relax even more. I'm very much an introvert, so after a day of being around a whole bunch of people I'll definitely need time alone with just my husband to rest and relax and decompress.

After my 1st wedding, we went bar hopping just the 2 of us. It was honestly the best part imo.

Ours will be ending late and on a Sunday so we are gonna enjoy our suite at the venue. But I have attended a few where they selected a nearby bar, but make sure all guests are up to date about the location I went to one where half the wedding was at one bar and the other half was at another. I also had a cousin that rented a barn with a bar and had mcdonalds served.

We’re finishing at 11 and taking Ubers to a local bar called Cheers that’s a mile and half away until 2 AM. Then we’ll go back to our hotel room blockSmiley winking there is a private club that we could rent out right on the River next to the venue but they want $250 for 2 hrs which seems crazy to us compared to Ubers to a local place with a band.
