What's the worst part about planning your wedding?

Jocelyn, on October 9, 2016 at 1:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 50

The worst part of wedding planning for me was addressing all the invites and worrying about things running smoothly! What is the worst part of planning for you guys?

Constantly being told, "No, you can't do this yet, your wedding is a year away," while feeling super stressed and like I have no time. Apparently all I'm supposed to do this soon is drool over Pinterest boards?

Realizing that FH's family is bigger than mine so we are having to spend a lot of money on plates for everyone, including inviting 17 children. It's the one thing FH wanted, so children he shall have.

-Budgeting, and sacrifices that come with it. I want to invite everyone, I can afford a fraction of that...

-People asking me how much I've spent/am going to spend. Nunya beeswax, jog on

-Self-planning and the inevitable "SO WHEN I GET MARRIED, YOU'RE PLANNING MY WEDDING, RIGHT?!?!"

-Friends offering to be friendors, and having to find a way to politely decline their services. I don't want to go anywhere near that mess, even if they offer it as a wedding gift. Just no no no no

-Unsolicited opinions. "Oh you're going with roses? That's boring, use peonies and daffodils!" Look, I like roses, I'm using roses. Use hydrangeas in your own damn wedding

At this point, money. Later it'll be addressing envelopes and worrying that things will go wrong

@FutureMrsHammett I know the feeling! It seems like people are 50/50; it's a medley of people asking why I still don't have my dress, asking about my bridal shower, etc OR people saying I shouldn't even bother planning until 2017. Sorry we want to minimize stress as much as possible and start early.

I'd have to say the cost and all the times I had to refrain from self imploding every time someone who has never planned a wedding / been engaged had to tell me I was wrong in selecting something and what I "should" do......so annoying.

That everyone on earth wants you to hear their opinion on what you should do

Right now it's budgeting... and discovering that FH's family in Texas has very different expectations of what a wedding should be than we do. They have been wonderfully understanding so far though.

My biggest fear is having my wedding turn into a daycare. Because everyone wants to bring there children because my children will be their. How do I politely say no. I struggle with the word no.

When I first started planning, I didn't want to disappoint anyone. As time went on, I learned that my fiance and I will never please everyone 100%. So, we've been calling all the shots. We were going to go all out for our wedding and we decided that we're going to keep the special day intimate.
