I wonder if it is a typo because that seems excessively high to me. Maybe she meant $25 which would be very reasonable. I'd probably play dumb and just email back and ask. Nothing to lose if she confirms that is the real travel fee than you are still able to politely decline.

Lol I hope it’s a typo I sent her an email in regards to that so waiting for a response but yes that’s very high unless I’m paying for not “working” that day

So shop around a little. Everyone sets their prices differently. Some might not charge for travel, but set their "per person" rates higher. Some might charge less but do crummy work.

I definitely think that it seems fair. I work as a freelance interpreter and have in different areas of the country. Where I am currently living the norm is to pay the per hour rate for the average travel time PLUS mileage. The reason for this is because as freelance workers we can not take any jobs during the time that we are traveling. I would expect the same from any freelancer providing their service, but maybe that is just because that is what I know to be the norm in my own line of work

It is still reasonable to minimize trips for as long as it is possible. It is risk, even if is the slightest one.

    ✌️Exactly on these points.

We have a moving business on the side, and we charge travel fees to go outside our county because it's a time suck both out and back, takes gas, and honestly it's a pain in the butt. If the location is inconvenient, we honestly charge a prohibitively high fee - because we truly don't *want* to get stuck in traffic two hours each way in downtown DC. So if people are scared away, that's alright and if people do pay it, we generally worry less about them nickel and dime'ing over the move (cutting corners by not renting a big enough truck, yadda yadda).
She definitely sets that price for a reason, and if she's worth it and you feel comfortable with her - I would pay it. ✌️

Im a professional makeup artist, and I’m sure she is also including the “kit “fee. A kit fee can cost a bit depending on how many bridesmaids or others she has to service. When your buying gas which is crazy, supplies, lashes, for 9 people that can add up guys.
