What's Your Dream Home?

I am one year away from finishing my second master's degree becoming an assistant principal. My husband and I plan to move to New Jersey and buy our dream home. We'd like 5 bedrooms with at least 3 full bathrooms. One and bathroom for us, two bedrooms and one bathroom for the kids, one bedroom and bathroom for guests, and one room for a home office or prayer area. The home must have a finished basement that my husband can turn into his man-cave and the backyard must be large enough for me to have a she-shed and space for a playground or pool. We need at least a two car garage and a front yard that is large enough so my husband can throw footballs around with our future son while I play double dutch on the sidewalk with our future daughter and her friends. The house must be in a diverse neighborhood and near an amazing school. Ideally, the home would be perfectly positioned in equal distance to my Atlantic City family and his Philly folks.

Enough about me, what's your dream home?

Ideally I'd love a white farmhouse style house with a wrap around porch. It would have enough spare rooms for a library/piano room and also a game/hobby room, a kitchen with enough counter space to bake, and a screened in back porch.

    These are our must-haves:
    - Under 425k
    - Open floor plan on main level
    - 3 Bedroom minimum
    - Master with attached bathroom and hopefully more than one closet
    - Larger backyard than currently have
    - Two car garage
    - In a neighborhood, not a busy road
    - Roughly equidistant to our jobs

We also would like a non-hill driveway and ideally a brick or stone front on the house. We’d prefer a gated neighborhood as well, and ideally our backyard would be fenced already.

I wouldn’t say our house is our “dream home,” but we like it and it works for our current needs. My dream home would be Victorian style with wrap around porches on the upper and lower level, 3 car garage so FH can fit all his tools and stuff and both cars can still fit inside too, 4+ bedrooms (one for us, each kid, and an office), an open kitchen with double ovens and a large island for entertaining, and large established trees for shade (we bought a brand new house in a new subdivision so there are just small trees everywhere). We’d also like enough room in the back yard for the kids to have their stuff and for me to have a garden, and an area with a fire pit. I would also love to have a loft or extra bedroom that I could turn into my art studio.

Our dream home would sit on 2 acres (if not more) it would be a two story home with 4-5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and maybe 1 half bathroom. Fire Place, BIG kitchen with a beautiful island in the middle of it. 1 bedroom will be for us, 1 will be for our daughter, 1 will be for our son, 1 will be for our future child, and the last one if we have a 5 bedroom would be for a guest bedroom. Also a BIG laundry room.

I too, would like a basement in the house because we live in tornado valley LOL (West Texas) and I would also want to fix it up into a room so if we get 4 bedroom the basement could be the guest bedroom.

I would also want 3 car garage. I would like a pool, bar area outside, trampoline, our two beautiful German shepherds and some chickens. I would like a wrap around patio I LOVE drinking coffee outside and watching the kids play.

We bought our first home, it is not our forever home. If I could have my dream home it would be everything I mentioned up top.

Wow, that home picture is elegant.

If we are talking DREAM HOME and not what we can actually afford and will be looking for in the next two years than I'd say:

    - Attached 4 Car Garage (Because it would be nice to be able to have room to mechanically work on a car if it breaks down but also have a back up car so you can take your time and not mess up.)

    - Wrap around porch

    - Front Yard

    - Large Fenced in Back Yard (To keep out nosy neighbors and to be able to have BBQ's, and run around with our dog if we can't make it to a dog park, and throw him a Frisbee or tennis ball)

-Open Concept floor plan (but not like you see today like totally open concept, I'm thinking more like large arches separate out rooms). It's beautiful and I want to be able to toss a tennis ball down the hall or throw the rooms for my dog to chase without causing any damage. (Yes, I do this now in our small rental house..our dog loves it..our cats not so much.)

    - Huge Kitchen with tons of storage space and counter space with the ability to walk even if your pets and humans are all conjugating in the room. An island with extra storage and outlets. An area for a breakfast bar type thing.

    - Dining Room big enough for 8 -12 people table.

    - All hardwood floors.

    - 4+ Bedrooms, including a Master Bedroom with a Full Bath and Walk-in Closets

    - 2 extra full baths.

    - Office Space.

    - Back Screen Porch for days you want to be outside but don't want to get eaten by bugs.

    - A cozy space where I can have a library and zen out. (Besides the kitchen probably my most used area since I'm always reading. I'm my husbands book worm.)

    - Plenty of storage space.

    - Finished basement organized between rooms of Laundry, Exercise, and Chill area.

    - Game Room (Because all homes need to have a poll table, traditional dart board, video games, and board/car games, right?!)

    - Close to my side of the family (he would agree)

    - Close to multiple dog parks.

    - Close to our favorite places to shop at/ go to (Disc golf course, meijer, mall, etc)

This would be the most organized house masterpiece ever! ha!

I'm sure I've forgotten something but that's what I have at the moment.

    I love Victorians:

NJ is insanely expensive, if not the cost of home, then the taxes on the property! I currently live in central NJ and I completely gave up on searching. My FH wants to move to FL, so I guess that is our plan. I'd like a big enough house so we can have our bedroom and maybe a room for him and for me, separately. We are not planning on children now, if ever, so we'd like a big backyard for a dog or two. Preferably 2.5-3 bathrooms and a two car garage. I would like a modern interior inside of a Victorian home. We would also repaint it black, or dark grey. And if we are truly talking DREAM home of mine, it would be in Reykjavik.

With living in SoCal our final dream home would be a waysss off from now so we haven’t even really discussed that. When we first started looking we had a wish list and the home we bought (which I guess would be our current dream home) is 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with a nice sized yard and relatively updated. The few things we didn’t get were an open concept kitchen and his and hers walk in closets. But we also went into it knowing what we could expect in our price range 🤷🏼‍♀️

New Jersey can be expensive, depending on where you are looking. I hope you find your dream home in Florida.

I actually live in my dream home. I live right by the lake that my grandfather has taken me all my life to fish at. We have a 2 bed room house with a runoff about 40 from our porch (which is being made into a wrap-around) so I go out on my porch in the morning and swing while listening to the water fall. It is two bed room and we are adding on another to make one into a game room for when friends come over ( and for us) our dog has a nice yard to run in. We are in the middle of the woods in a town with only 800 ppl. It’s quiet and it’s just us and we love it.
