What's your "Second" Dance?

Ostrich, on March 13, 2015 at 11:53 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15

A lot of hype is around the first dance, but what will be the first "public" dance at your wedding that everyone can join? I want something that's universally crowd pleasing, and that will get people on the floor- are you doing a slow dance for everyone, a up beat classic, something else? I need ideas, DJ form is due soon!! Vendors feel free to chime in with some that you've seen

We are doing our first dance right at the start of the reception. After dinner we will do MOG/Groom dance (first they have some crazy plan), and then the father daughter dance, during that dance I plan to ask other father daughter couples to come onto the dance floor, and then mother son couples and then we will transition into something more upbeat. Probably uptown funk.

We did like 2 minutes of Thinking Out Loud for our 'first dance' but our real song was our second - You Always Make Me Smile - Kyle Andrews. We got everyone up and dancing it was really fun.

We didn't pick one. But I think everyone hit the dance floor to ABC, 123.

Right after our first song, we had the bridal party up to join us for the second, which turned out to be a cop out ?. The dj asked everyone to circle around us on the dance floor, then he played 5 seconds of a slow song, pretended to scratch out, then proceeded to kick off the party with the remix of Whistle Baby and everyone was already on the dance floor so they all broke out in dance. After that we of course went back a few genres so that the older crowd could enjoy some songs before they had to leave, but everyone thought it was fun!

We're going to do something fun that's special to us because we know we'll definitely be able to dance to it (as opposed to off talking to someone). It's going to be Big Data - Dangerous or Arctic Monkeys - R U Mine?

Party Rock Anthem right after upbeat introductions. It was an unchoreographed surprise flash mob group dance for all of the guests to join in before we did the slow songs (first dance/father-daughter/mother-son dance)

Whatever fun upbeat song the DJ wants to play. IDGAF as long as it gets the party started. I trust my DJ to know how to start a party without me dictating every song he plays.

Thinking Out Loud ... It will be like a "the bride & groom along with their bridal party invite you to join them for the next dance" ...

@margaret good luck!! I wouldn't trust my DJ to randomly pick a first dance and this second dance is more crucial to me just to make sure the party gets started right Smiley smile

For our second dance my step son is going to sing and play his guitar to Ed sheeran's thinking out loud. We will invite all couples on the dance floor for this. So, we are starting off with a slow song!
