I was the head server at a restaurant and he was the new annoying 17 y/o bus boy (who had a GF he was always threatening to break up with) that I couldn’t stand ... and then I decided I had to have him... So I did 🤣😇 and that was 6 years ago!

We went to the same university for undergrad. I’m a year and a half older, so I was a sophomore when she was an incoming freshman. I was an officer in a fairly large club on campus and helping run our club’s kick-off meeting, which she attended.

The meeting quickly turned into a disaster (our president at the time was extremely unorganized) and I ended up having to leave my break-out group (which she was in) in the middle of their ice-breaker to go put out fires elsewhere.

She told me years later that this first meeting gave her a horrible impression of me—“who is this incompetent jerk who just abandoned us? Why doesn’t she know what she’s doing?”. Amazingly, she still joined the club and even more amazingly, took the time to actually get to know me after that disastrous first impression. We got to be really close friends through this, and at the end of the school year decided to get an off-campus apartment together with two other friends.

I should mention that when we first met, we were also both dating other people. She broke up with her SO during the spring semester of her freshman year, and I broke up with my ex that following summer. Apparently she started to have feelings for me while still with her ex (which helped prompt her to break up with them—it’s a pretty clear sign that something’s wrong in the relationship), but put them aside because 1. I was still seeing someone else, and 2. She really valued our friendship and didn’t want to risk anything.

We shared a room in our first apartment, and spent a lot of late nights talking and bonding. I realized that I was starting to have feelings for her in February of that year—a year and a half
after we met. I freaked out, naturally, because she was my roommate, and I figured dating your roommate had to go against some unspoken rule.

That’s also when I started picking up that she was flirting with me. I’m extremely dense—apparently the flirting had been going on for a lot longer, unbeknownst to me—but I decided we needed to talk through this. I planned and then chickened out a few times, always with an excuse about not wanting to make the house dynamics weird.

At the end of that semester, our other two roommates had left for the summer, leaving just me and her alone in the house. I finally mustered up the courage to do it and decided to talk to her the day before she also left.

That didn’t happen—the night before that, we had just finished deep cleaning the whole apartment, and decided to celebrate with tequila shots. Drunk-me decided that I had to do it right that very moment, in case I chickened out again in the morning, so I told her that I had had feelings for her for months and that I just needed to tell her so I could get over it and move on.

Clearly I didn’t get over it or move on 😂. Five and a half years later, and here we are—different apartment, even more in love.

High school! I was a freshman and he was a junior, we rode the school bus together so that’s how we first met.
I had a boyfriend at the time so we were just friends but we sat by each other every day, he would share his music with me, and would ALWAYS make me laugh.
I considered him to be one of my greatest friends, 7/8 years later he is now my best friend and soon to be husband ❤️

Met him 3/23/2016, it was my Friend’s birthday celebration. I was sitting down because I had hurt my ankle so I was in crutches. He approached me asked me to dance but I declined because of my ankle and he replied well, can I sit with you and keep you company? I agreed. So the whole night he stayed by my side and just made me laugh. At the end of the night, they started to play a slow song and he asked me once again if I wanted to dance. I pointed to my crutches and he replied sweetheart don’t worry you can lean on me.❤️

We actually met 8 years ago in our college literature class. I was really shy back then (still am, but not nearly as much), so I didn't talk to him much until we found out we were both tutors as well. We started talking all the time, but then after a year he left to go to another college, and we sorta lost touch. I say sorta, because we would text every holiday, usually me saying happy whatever holiday, him replying in kind, and then nothing until the next holiday, lol. Then one holiday about 4 years ago, we started talking past saying happy holiday, and just never quit. About a year after we started talking every day, he asked me something about my college where I worked, and I said I didn't know. He jokingly asked me where my school spirit was, and I joked back that if he took me to a football game he'd see my school spirit. He was just like, okay!, and he took me to the next football game we played at home. He asked me out that night, and we hit 3 years together as of yesterday.

In 2019, we met through my then best friend & roommate. She has hyped him up so much and boasted how they used to be a thing so for me that meant a no no not that I was interested anyway. Back then he wasn't my type and I heard stories. Fast forward 2012, said best friend was no longer my best friend but I was friends with her cousin and every labor day they host a beach gathering which I went to and so did he. We started talking and we got along great. He was funny. However, I was dating someone at the time. He said I was flirting with him. I said I was just being friendly. I started seeing him even more because we all hung out. It wasn't until March 2013 after I had broken it off with the guy I was dating. I'll never forget it. I had been sick and I was suppose to have started work at a new company in April. Little did I know I had a bad case of gallstones and I ended up in the hospital. When I woke up from surgery there was a simple vase with simple flowers and a note that said I missed you before you went into surgery call me if you're still alive haha. I laughed so hard, I called him. We dated for 4 months before we made it official as a couple. I didn't want anyone to know. My wall was way up and I'd been hurt so many times. My dad gave me some good advice. I knew he was the one when he went to court with me for a custody hearing I had with my daughters dad. Who does that no one but he did and he didn't have too. He made my eyes wife look like an ass and I one back 80% custody of my daughter. Since then we've been through ups and downs but he broke through my wall and showed me what real love is. He's taught me patience, compromise, and best of all he makes me laugh.

Btw, I learned my roommate lied about them being together. He confirmed it and so did her cousin.
