What’s your wedding dress budget?

Just started my dress search and visited a shop this past weekend where I tried on some dresses and the dresses I liked fell into the $2500-$3000 range. I don’t necessarily have a budget, but I’m kind of uneasy about purchasing a dress I will only wear once. But again, I don’t want to limit myself...
Just started my dress search and visited a shop this past weekend where I tried on some dresses and the dresses I liked fell into the $2500-$3000 range. I don’t necessarily have a budget, but I’m kind of uneasy about purchasing a dress I will only wear once. But again, I don’t want to limit myself too. But I do think I should set a budget. So I just wanted to get an idea what everyone else’s budget is and which designer did go with? The dresses I liked were either Pronovias or Sottero & Midgley.

TIA!

My budget was $1000 but if I find one that I absolutely love then I would be willing to go over it a bit. Personally I would rather spend more money on my honeymoon so that's how I set the budget plus like you said you're only wearing it once.

My mom paid for my dress and ended up being 1,045$. I was finding dresses that I liked between the **** range. It really depends on the amount of detail work you want in the dress. I tried David’s bridal for cheaper options but didn’t find anything I liked and the customer service was bla compared to the more boutique type places. Not sure for alterations but I’m budgeting at least 400$ for it.

My budget was $6k but I ended up finding my dress for $1,750 (pre alterations) ha! My only advice is to go to the boutique shops in addition to the big bridal depot's like Kleinfeld's. I went to Kleinfeld's and couldn't find a thing I liked. I found my dress in small boutique and as soon as I put it on, I just knew.

I went into dress shopping not wanting to spend more than $2500. My perfect dress ended up being the 3rd dress I tried on and only $1250. Plus I got 10% off for paying in full!!

I'm in the same boat as you are in. I will have my first dress shopping/try on appointment in March. My FH says $5,000 is a fair price fo a dress ,but I also can't justify spending more than $3,000 for a dress I am going to wear once.
I also love Sottero& Midgley and the designers under that fashion house. I just found Enzoani and never heard of them. Really nice dresses with modern lines, fabrics, and textures.

My budget was $1,000 and hoping that I didn't need to go higher. For me, a designer dress wasn't important. As long as I loved the dress itself. I found mine at David's Bridal just under my budget! I can't wait to wear it on May 25th.Smiley love

Mine was $780 after tax from DB. It will be another 250 with alterations but that is because I'm changing the back to a corset and changing the champagne color under to black

So originally when I went dress shopping, I had a budget of $500-$700 before alterations. I tried on probably somewhere between 20-30 dresses, and only really fell in love with 1. I tried on one I saw on the mannequin and it looked nice on but had a lot of tule and layers. I also wasn't in love with the mesh lining on around the neck of the dress. I also noticed that it carried a really hefty price tag of $1300 before alterations and I just knew to alter it would cost another $500. So I went back to the racks. We grabbed 5 more dresses, one of which was not my favorite on the hanger, but I liked the cut and style of the dress. I also managed to grab the dress without looking at the price tag when I tried it on. It was my absolute favorite of all the dresses I tried on. It was comfortable and it was just so insanely flattering. I was absolutely terrified to look at the price tag as I had fallen in love instantly with this dress.. to my surprise it was $230 with 20% off! I immediately said yes to the dress!! My only alteration will be taking up the straps a bit, but the length and fit were perfect. My advice, don't underestimate the underdog, it might be the perfect one!! I would post a picture of me in it, but my Mom took the most unflattering pictures of me in my dress Smiley laugh

My budget was $1500-$2000, and while the dress was in range ($1500 from Allure), the cost of accessories can add up. After the underskirt/petticoat, veil, and tiara, my final total was $2200 for all the things that go with the dress (still have to figure out shoes and jewelry). So keep in mind whether you want a veil and/or tiara as you figure out your budget. For regional reference, I went to a shop in southern NH.

Sottero & Midgley is the top of the MS line. If you like her style you could look for her mid range Maggie Sottero gowns or her lower tier Rebecca Ingram gowns. Most popular designers are between $**** for their dresses. I’ve tried on a lot of Madison James and David Tutera and they average $2000.

If you are looking for something equally beautiful but don’t mind not having a “designer gown” David’s bridal has a huge selection of their “David’s bridal brand” gowns that are $1500 or less.

Sorry if any of this is repeat info, but 270+ comments was a lot to read through! 😂

I don't think I had a budget. We just searched and found different ones and went with that. I didn't want to go over $1000 though.

My max was $2500. Found my dress, changed the color and ended up purchasing it during a trunk sale at the Bridal boutique and got a deal on it. I tried on the champagne color in the boutique and was going with that, but we change our colors so I changed to the ivory in the 2nd picture. It’s more appropriate for our romantic summer theme.

The first dress I bought was $750 and one of the only reasons I bought it was because I had exactly that on me lol when I decided to get a new dress my budget was $2000. The dress I purchased came in at $1600 with the veil and excessories
