What’s your wedding dress budget?

Just started my dress search and visited a shop this past weekend where I tried on some dresses and the dresses I liked fell into the $2500-$3000 range. I don’t necessarily have a budget, but I’m kind of uneasy about purchasing a dress I will only wear once. But again, I don’t want to limit myself...
Just started my dress search and visited a shop this past weekend where I tried on some dresses and the dresses I liked fell into the $2500-$3000 range. I don’t necessarily have a budget, but I’m kind of uneasy about purchasing a dress I will only wear once. But again, I don’t want to limit myself too. But I do think I should set a budget. So I just wanted to get an idea what everyone else’s budget is and which designer did go with? The dresses I liked were either Pronovias or Sottero & Midgley.

TIA!

My original budget was $250 (I'm cheap and a dreamer Smiley smile), but fell in love with a David's Bridal Gown on clearance for $549; alterations will be $245. Be sure to look for a local seamstress if you can, the david's price for my alterations was $340! Also, if anyone has been brave enough to order a gown online at some of these sites that offer beautiful gowns for around $200, please share!

I didn’t have a dress budget. My parents would have spent whatever it took to make me happy. I ended up spending about $800 for my dress.

I gave myself $2000 total including the dress and alterations. I spent $1500 on my dress, belt, and veil. I have yet to have my alterations and I am honestly getting nervous my alterations are going to cost more than the $500 I have left in my budget. The designer of my dress is Lillian West. We are getting married on May 25, 2019 and it's at a garden.

I started with a $300 budget and managed to find my ceremony and reception dress for about $135 total!

Wow, mostly everyone has a big budget on dresses. Mine was $300 or less. I found a sample dress from David's Bridal that was originally $1050, the sale brought it down to $99.

My budget was 1300 but ended up spending 1100 😁 I absolutely love my dress. Plus I live in Minnesota so there's no tax on clothes.

I called different bridal shops to inquire about “ sale dresses” . Each season they have to make room for the new style like many clothing store. I found the most beautiful dress made by Eddy K . With taxes it came up to $721.00 it was regular $1800.00. Don’t be afraid or intimidated to inquire about the dresses marked down.. all the the other brides in the store was raving how cute the dress looked. They had no idea it was on sale

Literally jaw dropping! You look incredible! I love that it's colorful- I'm strongly considering going for something non-white/ivory too.

The underlining in black would be just awesome in that gown. Looks gorgeous on you. Are you getting a veil and in ivory or black?

Right?!? I was really wincing at the idea of a $500 wedding dress! I got my dress at David's bridal as well and the dress of my dreams ended up being $220!! I will probably only spend $50 on the alterations for the straps, if that! The other dresses I tried on for $500+ weren't that much different than what I bought, so I had to keep asking myself, why are dresses so expensive?

I feel you! Not enough plus size and actually beautiful gowns. I ended up finally re-showing the woman the gown I wanted from David's site, the store literally only had a size 8 to show me. I crossed my fingers and ordered it and love it

This is stunning Katie! I have a large wildflower piece that wraps my left shoulder, it is going to look so good with your sleeves! I found an eyelash lace off the shoulder I love there as well!

Wow, I dont think I would have been able to do that. I'm glad it you loved it when it came in. My fiance and I both agree that the wedding dress shopping has been the hardest part of the wedding.

I originally set a budget of $1000, but at my dress appointment my mom surprised me by telling me I could add $500 from her.

The dress I chose was around $1400.

My overall dress budget including alterations is $600. Why so little, some may ask? My dress is considered "non-traditional". And instead of a dress, I've got a high waisted pleated Maxi skirt and I have change leftover for a gorgeous lace top.

Dress vendors have caught onto buying off white dresses like champagne, blush, gold, beige etc.... So I am going with a POP of color. I bought 2 very long maxi skirts for close to $225 on Etsy (total). With the trimmings from the bottom of my skirt alterations, I'll be making my FH's pocket square out of it. I bought two skirts in case I chickened out of wearing a bright color. One is a vibrant orange the other a warm white.

This may not work for some people, but I wanted to show my inner creativity. I will be asking everyone else to wear white to my wedding instead so that I still get a white wedding, while still getting to be me and not break the piggy bank.

    -K
