What’s your wedding dress budget?

Just started my dress search and visited a shop this past weekend where I tried on some dresses and the dresses I liked fell into the $2500-$3000 range. I don’t necessarily have a budget, but I’m kind of uneasy about purchasing a dress I will only wear once. But again, I don’t want to limit myself...
Just started my dress search and visited a shop this past weekend where I tried on some dresses and the dresses I liked fell into the $2500-$3000 range. I don’t necessarily have a budget, but I’m kind of uneasy about purchasing a dress I will only wear once. But again, I don’t want to limit myself too. But I do think I should set a budget. So I just wanted to get an idea what everyone else’s budget is and which designer did go with? The dresses I liked were either Pronovias or Sottero & Midgley.

TIA!

If you do find one you like that's a bit out of budget, check https://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/

I found the perfect designer dress unaltered and for about $800 less than the store price. (My budget was $2,500)

While my parents paid for my reception and the details concerning it, I was on my own for my dress so I had to be realistic about what I could really afford when I am also paying for flowers and photography myself too.

I told myself I had a budget of $1500. I was not thinking about the alterations and veil, which I should have. Luckily, I found a dress that was $1089 (A Rebecca Ingram). After also choosing my veil and the initial alterations, I am at $1600. I may still have to pay for more alterations. I went over. I wish I hadn't due to the stress of now also juggling monthly payments to a photographer and a florist. But, I simply fell in love with my dress and veil. If I had to cut something, I would have found a less expensive veil. So perhaps going for it on the dress is worth it.

I honestly did not want to spend more than $800 TOTAL on the dress, alterations, accessories. And even that amount was HIGH for my comfort. I tried finding white dresses at department stores and had no luck. Every boutique I reached out to told me they didn’t have anything in my budget. I finally went to David’s and picked out dresses within my budget ($500 or less). They showed me the “older bride” or “second wedding” ones and I actually liked them on the rack (regardless of their negative spin on them) because I wanted a relaxed feel to my dress. But none of them looked right on me. The consultant brought me a dress to try on and I fell in love, but didn’t consider the price tag would be out of my range. The dress ended up being $700 😰. But I had fallen for it, and decided to get it (with help from my mom) and pay it off in installments.
If I could go back, I never would have put that dress on. I also would have asked to try on bridesmaids dresses that come in white/ivory because they are cheaper and pretty.

In total I have spent $2720 (ish) on my dress and accessories. This covers everything I am wearing.

About $750 of that is waisted on a dress I purchased very early on that I do not like and can not fit. I am hoping to recoup some of my losses after the wedding when I resell it. (I am not dealing with reselling before the wedding.

I was trying to keep my budget around $1000, but the dress I ended up getting was $1600. When originally figuring out budget I didn't realize my parents were planning to pay for my dress, and they were okay with the higher price so that's the only reason I went so much above.

I didn’t have a budget, my fiancé told me to find what I loved and go for it - but in the back of my mind I didn’t want to go over 5K.
That being said, my dress was 1500, but that doesn’t include alterations. I absolutely adoreeeee my dress.

My budget was 6,000$ but I knew I was going to get one that expensive. Luckily, I found one at 1500$ from the 2019 collection, too!

I’m very lucky. $500 budget. Found a $1000 dress for $500. The lady was retiring so everything was half off!! I bought a $500 viel for $250, and a head piece $150 for $75! She threw in the shoes for free! Can’t beat that!!! God is good!!

My budget was $3k, which ended up being enough to choose any dress in the boutique I went to. To my surprise, the dresses that I liked were around $1100 - $1500. I ended up getting two (oops), both of which I'll wear day-of. The first is a Maggie Sottero trumpet dress, the second a Morilee by Madeline Gardner mermaid. Stock pics below.

I'm too embarrassed to say my "budget," but I will say is that I cannot wrap my head around the possibility of me spending $1,000 or more on a dress that I'll wear for one day. As I mentioned before in other discussions, I've spent $300 on a dress I wore to a White House event, and I've never worn it again. I felt like I wasted money.

My budget for the dress is $400. Then plus shoes, veil, alterations, shapewear, swatches, shipping, and jewelery the budget is all together about $600-650, and it looks like I'll be coming in fairly accurately around budget

I know it's crazy but I paid less for my dress than I paid for my invitations. I'd rather put big money towards our honeymoon. I paid $206 for my dress from Blush Fashion on Etsy. I'll have to get the length altered but otherwise it fits great.
