What’s your wedding dress budget?

Just started my dress search and visited a shop this past weekend where I tried on some dresses and the dresses I liked fell into the $2500-$3000 range. I don’t necessarily have a budget, but I’m kind of uneasy about purchasing a dress I will only wear once. But again, I don’t want to limit myself...
Just started my dress search and visited a shop this past weekend where I tried on some dresses and the dresses I liked fell into the $2500-$3000 range. I don’t necessarily have a budget, but I’m kind of uneasy about purchasing a dress I will only wear once. But again, I don’t want to limit myself too. But I do think I should set a budget. So I just wanted to get an idea what everyone else’s budget is and which designer did go with? The dresses I liked were either Pronovias or Sottero & Midgley.

TIA!

I will tell you this much. My budget was no more than 1.000 and even that I was not thrilled with. Realistically I wanted to find something off the rack at davids bridal for like $500. I found a designer who made dresses I loved and was going to order direct ($900 plus shipping) but didn't know my size so decided to go check out a local shop that carries that designers dresses to get a feel for pricing. It was the best decision. I wen in and asked about the designer and tried on many dresses (some very similar to the one I wanted to order online) and NONE of them were flattering. I did not like any of them. The consultant suggested I try a different style we never talked a budget so I just went with it. I tried two dresses on and fell in love with both but obviously one more than the other. It was WAY over my 1,000 dollar budget. After taxes it cost $1,970. It was $1900 with taxes but talked the consultant down to $1700 plus taxes. I have no regrets. It hurt my pockets a little but it was so worth it. I have no regrets about my choice.

My budget seems low compared to others but I just can't wrap my head around spending thousands of dollars on a dress I'll wear for 6 hours...nothing against anyone else, it's just not in my budget. Now I do have a dream dress in mind but I know I could never afford it, but in an alternate universe where money was no object I would go for it. In reality my actual budget is closer to $500-$600 before alterations.

My budget is $1500 (not including alterations), but I'd looooove it if I could manage spending less than $1000. So far I've only been to David's Bridal once and one dress I was semi-interested in was $699, but I plan on going to boutiques too and I know their dresses will cost more, so we'll see...

My budget was 3k however, that 3k went up with alterations. If I can give you any bit of advice, it would be get to your GOAL weight (if you aren't already there) before buy a dress and work on maintaining it.

Also, don't obsess over looking dramatically different and drop a bunch of weight. If you do, you will regret it if it isn't sustainable between your first fitting and your wedding. Those body changes equal more alterations. I'm in a bind now because I lost a bunch of weight and couldn't sustain it all. Those extra inches can ruin your budget. Alterations can be anywhere between 100-600 dollars!

I'd like to keep it at $1500-$2000. Otherwise I know I'll justify spending more if I really love something. Thank fully the dresses I have been looking at are right around that price range but all could easily go out the window when I actually start dress shopping! I'm not including my dress in our budget since I'm paying for it and my dad has graciously gifted us 90% of our budget

I set my budget to be $500, but there is a little wiggle room. Any money we save from cutting costs where we can is going towards our honeymoon. I can't personally justify paying more than my budget for a dress for the day.

I feel your pain. My fiance helped bring my dress budget up to $1500 from $1000... now I think I found the dress I want, but its $1200 & I just cannot bring myself to pay that much on a dress I will only wear one time. If I had a daughter, that might want to wear my dress or revamp it into her own one day, i could talk myself into it, but I have a son and were not planning on anymore kids.

You could try looking for the dress you want on some other sites. I found some dress shops that were selling their floor samples or last season dresses on Ebay. Also found brides who changed their minds and are selling their NWT dresses on their. Their is also Poshmark and Tradesy, both I discovered since looking for a dress. Hope this helps!

My budget was 2500 before alterations and any accessories. I found my dress for 1700, my alterations are estimating to be around 400 and my accessories (veil, headband, jewelry) came to 250ish. I told my consultant when I went that my max cost for the dress was 2500 but that didn't mean I HAD To spend that. She pulled dresses that were of all price ranges and didn't tell me the cost since none she pulled were over the budget. I fell in love with one and then found out the price.

I have a $200 dress budget BUT, hear me out, its a casual wedding and im going for a tea-length type dress more or less more casual than anything. So im guessing that budget is fine for what i want

I originally had a budget I set for myself of $500, after alterations. I got my dress on sale for $190, with $230 in alterations, which means I spent $420 in total for a dress I love.

I lovvvvve Sottero and Midgley. My dress is Maggie Sottero. It was $2,000. We budgeted for $1,000 but after I tried the dress on in store and fell in love I started hunting the web for my dresscheaper. Ended up buying it brand new from a bridal boutique in another state for $995, shipping included.

Was your wedding in Hill Country Texas? Looks similar to a winery we visited. Had a Tuscan designed houses on the property.
