What’s your wedding dress budget?

Just started my dress search and visited a shop this past weekend where I tried on some dresses and the dresses I liked fell into the $2500-$3000 range. I don’t necessarily have a budget, but I’m kind of uneasy about purchasing a dress I will only wear once. But again, I don’t want to limit myself...
Just started my dress search and visited a shop this past weekend where I tried on some dresses and the dresses I liked fell into the $2500-$3000 range. I don’t necessarily have a budget, but I’m kind of uneasy about purchasing a dress I will only wear once. But again, I don’t want to limit myself too. But I do think I should set a budget. So I just wanted to get an idea what everyone else’s budget is and which designer did go with? The dresses I liked were either Pronovias or Sottero & Midgley.

TIA!

I gave myself a budget of $1000 and I basically came in right on track with a Maggie Sottero dress. I'd recommend checking with the shop before going to make sure they offer a wide variety of dresses, budget-wise, but I had NO problem finding a dress I loved at my budget and actually had a lot to choose from. Like you, I just had a really hard time trying to justify paying crazy amounts of money for one dress that I get to wear on one day and then never again, hence the small budget.

My originally budget was $1,500.00 not including alterations and I came in right on budget at $1,514.00 after taxes. Still have not gotten alterations yet.

I was definitely going into the dress shop with an idea and kind of a budget, but then of course my Mother had me try on a style I didn't want to at all and I fell in love with it. She wound up buying my dress for me, as a gift from her and my father, who is deceased. When we were looking she said if I limited myself to a price, I would've settled and not found the dress I loved.

We budgeted my dress at around 1000 to 1200. I found a BEAUTIFUL dress that was closer to 2000. We were gonna try for it but I tried another dress on and knew it was mine. We paid 300 for it

I just bought my dress this week!! It is a Maggie Sottero (GAIL)!! Smiley heart

I would definitely suggest to go in with a budget in mind. That way, your consultant will pull dresses in that range. If you don't find your dress, them up the budget a bit if you're able. I noticed a difference in quality the higher you went Smiley sad

My initial budget was $1750 and my amazing mother has offered to cover it. Unfortunately, no dress claimed me. The boutique I purchased from included alterations, so my mom up'd the budget a bit. I found the one! I am adding a neckline to my already perfect strapless dress so that added a little more to the price. Total, my dress came in at $2300 (including my veil).

    Good luck!!

I set my budget at $1500. I found the dress, veil, and belt for $1200 at a boutique and then alterations were an addition $500. I am super happy with the dress and totally fine with going over my budget a little. It was worth the experience at the boutique!

This is my second wedding (I'm currently 31, and got married when I was 21). With my first wedding, my wedding dress budget was 250$ (yes, for real). I ended up finding a dress for 500$, and while yes, I was happy in it, you could tell it was a $500 dress.

This round I set my budget to 2000$. Yes, it's only a one day dress, but I also find myself more focused on us as a couple, then wasting money on other things like 700$ of candy for a kids table (to each their own). My dress ended up needing to be rushed, and ended up coming to about 2700$. I don't regret a single penny I spent on that dress. The pictures will be beautiful, and it's what is important to me.

Don't stress about what others think, and if you know you don't want to spend $2000, DO NOT try on dresses in that price range. All my sales ladies were great at only pulling dresses in my budget, and not allowing me to try on anything without first being like "Are you okay with paying 2300? If not, put it away"

This is good advice, I think sometimes budgets get blown because of the dress. It's such an important part of the wedding experience of course, but it's probably the first thing that people are willing to blow their budgets on. I got my wedding dress super cheap because it's not a "wedding dress". If I were to look at ALL the wedding dresses in the universe, would it be my #1? Probably not. But I still love it and I love that my budget is still okay haha

I was in the same boat and fell in love with a $3,000 Hayley Paige which I was okay with spending because... well its HP LOL But that didn't include alterations! SO I did some sleuthing and found it used. I was skeptical at first but the original bride sent me tons of pictures and even got it professionally cleaned before sending it to me. I saved $1,000 and bc she had it altered already, it fits me perfectly and I just need it hemmed a bit. You could probably find one used to because those are bigger name designers! And then to save money, I plan on selling my dress again afterward.

getting the used one in the mail! What’s your wedding dress budget? 2

I didn’t really think about budget when I went looking for my dress. I just went with my heart! The one I am getting was $1500 at DB and I got it on sale for $958. I wanted sparkle and this dress has 13,000 beads on it! I still will buy a veil and head piece for an additional $400. I just love it! Here is a picture of the dress from DB online with model.

I had a budget of about 600 but I found my dress on sale for about 390. Its completely different than anything I went in looking for but as soon as I put it on, (it was like my 5th) I started sobbing.

I am a budget bride so I set my budget at $1000 however I found when dress shopping that it was really limiting! I couldn’t find many dresses under $1500. I went to about 9 shops! I stuck to my guns and waited it out and found a dress off the rack at David’s bridal for a discount at $820. I still need to get it altered, but I was content paying that price. Some people suggested online retailers for cheaper dresses (Amazon, azazie, cocomelody). I didn’t quite have enough time to order online plus I’m plus size and was a little worried about how things would look on me but I would’ve gone that route had I started shopping soon enough! Many dresses online are under $300!

At first I was set on $2000 total.
    (Including alterations/bustle, preservation, veil, etc)
however we had several issues come up and we ended up not being able to afford that. Also I came to the realization that even though I want it to be beautiful and special...I am still only going to wear it for barely a whole day then never wear it again.
So we came to the conclusion to not go over $1000. And I ended up finding my dress on sale a David’s for a total of $550. 🥰

I spent a little less than 1,500- that doesn’t include any alterations yet. Wish I would of spent less. I’m having major dress regret because there was two dresses I was torn between. I feel like if I would of bought the other one, I would of had regret that I didn’t by the other one. I think part of me is just sad the search is over.

I didn’t have an exact budget but did not want to spend a lot on a dress I’ll wear once. I ended up getting a dress for 499$ marked down from $599.
I am having my veil made from my mom’s!
