Too many nuptials look unrecognizable, especially the brides, on the wedding day. We wanted to look ourselves and be frugal as we have always been

Our theme was “wedding.” Themes are unnecessary and often times make the event feel like a child’s birthday party.

We didn't really have a theme instead we incorporated things we both like. For example, I love glitter/sparkles so our sweetheart table, cake topper, and table numbers were a glittery sliver. I had layer of glittery tulle added to my wedding dress so anytime I moved I sparked. I also love Converses so I wore them for the entire wedding and my husband wore his during the reception. Our decorator customized them for us. My husband loves sports so our escort cards looked like tickets to a baseball game, our guest book was two sports jerseys (1 hockey & 1 baseball), and he gave his groomsmen/my bride's man a mug that looked like a baseball with their names engraved on them and they used them during the reception. Our colors were also red and black which are the colors of my husband's favorite hockey team. It also worked out perfectly because I always envisioned red roses with black tablecloths at my wedding. Previously, I would only include small things rather than going all out for a theme otherwise it can end up looking overdone and childish.

We’re having a dnd theme! We met playing dnd so it hold a special place for us. I’m having a sword hilt bouquet, and his boutonniere is dice. We are adding as many personal touches as we can because we didn’t want our wedding to feel like the bland run or the mill wedding, we wanted it to feel like us and people to remember it.

Love it! We don’t really have a theme. We just want it to be timeless

We kept it simple and are having a semi rustic romantic wedding. Couldn't decide between the two looks so we are just incorporating both and I think it will come together nicely.

A baseball theme sounds so fun! My FH and I both love traveling to the different major league ballparks so we considered adding pictures of us at each stadium for the different reception tables, but it unfortunately wouldn’t match the beach theme we already have going.

We don't really have a theme but our base color is marble and we'll have navy, wine and silver accents. Some of our centerpieces will have those oversized feathers and we're going to have black candelabras. We'll even have a red carpet. I guess once you decorate everything, it'll look a bit like Old Hollywood style-ish.

Yeah I can see why most don't like themes, but isn't it about showing the inner part of thy self??

Our theme is Cinderella. I’m a huge Disney fan and fiancé wanted light blue as a color so I thought it was perfect!

Ours is Summer Night Festival so it's looking more rustic with string lights and such.

    Hello, baseball bride!

We were set up and fell in love because of the losingest team in the history of sports - the Phillies! (...Seriously, we were the first team of any franchise on earth to hit 10,000 losses. 14 years ago.)

Our theme was a mash up of theatre and Phillies.

So, our colors were red, blue, and purple. (The first two being team colors, the third my favorite... and conveniently, the blend of the former.) My dress had a red ribbon for the corset, so I looked like a baseball. We recessed to an instrumental of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".

Our table numbers were our favorite player for each position in team history (so, Mike Schmidt, 20 ... even if the it was really table # 3, Cole Hamels, 35 ... sweetheart table, he's my DUDE, etc.).

Our cake had baseball stitching on it (and also comedy/tragedy masks), with 3 Phanatics on top. Our invites were from a (sadly, closed) shop on Etsy that did team-themed invites.

We even wrote our own vows, separately, and both referenced our teams copiously. (For context, we met on a day when the Marlins slaughtered the Phillies. The night before our wedding? ...Yep. The Marlins just absolutely killed the Phillies. *sigh*.)

A friend painted a sign for us that had the team logo, and baseballs. DH snuck his stuffed Phanatic into the decor box, and he ended up on the sweetheart table. We made foam half-baseballs as the bases for our centerpieces.

    Oh, and for theatre?

    We did a swordfight.

We didn't have a theme for our minimony and we also won't have one for our big wedding. We didn't feel that it was necessary

We're doing an under the stars/dnd theme. Nothing crazy over the top, just really incorporating the galaxy color scheme and doing little DND touches here and there.

I think a lot of people get hung up on the word 'theme' and it's really showcasing who you are at the wedding and what the two of you love together.

FH and I both love space and the science of space travel, and we play DND together with family every Saturday night. It means a lot to us to include our dorky sides to the friends and family who know us. Sure, not everyone will get it, and some people may not even like it, but it's what we love and we want to share it with everyone else who loves and supports us.

We're having a motorcycle theme! Specifically, sport bikes. Fiance and I both ride, enjoy watching races, and met when I was working at Cycle Gear (motorcycle gear/parts/accessories) and he was just starting to ride on the street and needed to get geared up. A friend who does laser printing and 3D models is making our centerpieces - models of tracks from the MotoGP circuit. Instead of table numbers, they'll be named after whatever track is on that table. Our colors are black, red, and white. The gift, guest book, and buffet tables will have black cloths with white skirts to kind of mimic a checkered flag without being too in-your-face about it. Our cake will also be in the theme and we'll likely have a topper that includes a sport bike somehow.
