When did you actually start wedding planning?

How soon after the proposal did you start wedding planning? Did you dive right in the next day? Did you wait a little while to just enjoy being engaged? Did you it take you awhile to get the ball rolling? When did you start wedding planning? Photo from Precision Planning in Murray, NJ

My fiancé proposed in June this year and we started talking about dates and venues etc in Nov this year. We’ve been together for 8 years so for us, although we are both excited to be getting married and starting this new chapter of life, we haven’t rushed into planning and are taking our time

We actually started looking at ideas immediately after the proposal like a day actually. We then started looking into vendors and planning a month afterwards because we don’t want to forget anything and although we have 3 years to plan it we want to make sure our budget is correct as well as other needs are met in which we can still enjoy life afterwards.

I started immediately! I knew exactly what I wanted! 😊 I had 380 to plan and now I’ve been married for two days and I’m so glad that I had the extra time!

We didn’t start until recently. We got engaged after 6 months and have been together 1 year 3 months now.

We got engaged on Dec 8 2018. We announced our engagement to family the following week, on social media after that so we didn't really start planning anything until a few weeks later.

I am currently doing the same! We talked about engagement one minute the next we were booking venue tours LOL! I think the actual proposal is going to be more a surprise (meaning when he actually does it) as I will be involved in planning and not watching out for the proposal.

Uh, about 2 weeks before he proposed!! We both knew he was going to propose soon, so we snagged a venue we really loved so we wouldn't have to wait lol!

    Immediately lol

Realistically about 6 months in I started taking it really seriously. I haven't committed to much yet, but in the new year I will be going full throttle with wedding planning as I hope to pay off my car loan and get rid of that bill.

You're not alone. We decided to get married while eating dinner. No proposal, no ring. Similar to Carrie Bradshaw & Mr. Big on SITC Movie 😉😂
Now we are in planning mode.
We've looked at engagement rings but FH wouldn't tell me if he's bought one yet or not.
We've been together for 17 years, a proposal to me after this many years is not that necessary.

My partner began planning a week after the proposal. Even though we set our date for a little over a year. She wanted the entire process to go as smooth as possible. Planning early has helped her really figure out what she wants without having the pressure that goes with a restricted schedule.

We were told by many people when Evan was planning to propose that we should hop onto planning immediately -- so that's what we did! He proposed June of 2019, and we had our venue picked out by July 31st. The thing is, Arizona had a very small window for perfect outdoor wedding weather, so it was good that we started venue hunting immediately. Places were booking up insanely fast!

We waited a bit before we started. We were away on vacation still so not only did we not have to start right away, we had a few days to enjoy being newly engaged with just the two of us before we got home to the madness that awaited us lol.

Update, we booked the venue and the date is set for September 13, 2020! I'm so excited and the other details and bookings will follow after the holidays. I feel like we're old school since my mom, my sister and I are doing most of the planning.

We probably waited about a month after the proposal to start planning.

Well at the time we were having our first baby so we held off on planning anything else. Now that she is almost a year old we have decided to plan the wedding, I wanted to space it out far enough for other life events that may happen.

He went to a bachelor party the weekend after he proposed so my mom and I went a little crazy that weekend.. we got a dress (whoops- we were just “looking”) and looked at 7 different venues 😱 just to get a feel for what we were wanting PLUS we figured that way, we weren’t “wasting” my fiancé’s time. We could give him options and then we’d decide when we went back together.
