When did you have your bridal shower?

John Smith, on December 18, 2019 at 7:57 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 15

I'm getting married the first weekend of July, 2020.
My mother and sister are flying back to the states the second week of January to go dress shopping, and my sister (MOH) mentioned having the bridal shower that weekend. That seemed really early to me, but I haven't been a part of a wedding in a very long time so I'm not sure what the timeline is for that.

I haven't asked all of the bridal party members yet, we haven't solidified our guest list, and we haven't sent out save the dates. I'm not really looking forward to the bridal shower anyway because I only have like 2 friends, so should I just have her do it during January (which is already super busy and every weekend is packed), or should I suggest we wait until closer to the wedding? I don't think anyone could make it on such short notice, as my best friends live out-of-state.

I really appreciate her thinking about this (she's not a very organised person) so i don't want to put her down. Rather, I'd just like to re-direct/orient her timeline.

Thanks!

We got married July 20 and my bridal shower was May 5. January does sound early and is generally a busy time of year so I would probably hold off on having it. I would also give guests more notice than this for a shower.

We're getting married February 23rd and my bridal shower is being planned for January 11th. From what I've read bridal showers are usually 1-3 months before the wedding. I would wait until closer to the wedding, especially because it'll be such short notice for your guests.

My shower was five months out because that’s when it was more convenient

January is definitely a little early. Our wedding is in April and my first shower is January 26 and second one is March 1.

We're getting married on Leap Day. I had my first bridal shower this past Sunday & my other two are the weekend of MLK Day (1/18 & 1/19). Showers are usually 1-3 months before the wedding. Like PP's said, I would wait til closer to the wedding; especially since you don't have your guest list planned out.

January is pretty early for a July wedding and at this point it would be kind of late notice for guests. When will your mom and sister be back in the state prior to your wedding? Is it a difficult place to fly to/from? If they fly back a couple of weeks prior to the big day I would do it then. We are getting married in June and my BS will be in May.

Traditionally your Bridesmaids or the parents through you the Bridal shower. Like for mine my 3 bridesmaids threw it, and it was so much fun. We also did mine a little early, I am getting married in February but I wanted to avoid all the holidays and birthdays so we threw it in September.

I believe a good marker is 2-3 months prior to the wedding. Smiley smile
