I started right away. I knew I wanted lanterns and had a coupon from Pier 1 so I purchased 30 of them.

I bought my first item within a couple of months of getting engaged, two years prior to getting married. I didn't wind up using it and it was $70 wasted.

I started about 6 months away but honestly I wish I would have done it sooner. I'm scrambling trying to put together all the money I need to get the rest of the décor and it's making me stressed just thinking about it.

I'm 2 weeks after you and I've already started. I ordered our cake topper and I've ordered some samples of decoration items. Once I get them and check quality (from a place in China) then I'll order the amounts I'm actually going to need. I'm DIYing pretty much everything so I need to get a move on. Plus I go through phases of interest so I'm trying to do a lot while I'm on the wedding kick cuz I'm due to lost motivation any time now lol.

I started buying stuff like a week after I got engaged. I should've waited though because now I have a bunch of stuff that I don't even want to use anymore.

We're renting most things, so we didn't have much to buy. We didn't buy anything until like may or June of this year though.

I'd wait if I were you. People's styles and visions for their wedding change, I wouldn't want to buy stuff and then not want it anymore, that's just wasted money.

When the fall stuff went on sale. Take advantage of that because the stuff I didn't buy last year I'm paying full price for now.

I check out the Hobby Lobby clearance section like once a week, so I have been picking things up here and there since we got engaged! Lots of it is mix-matched (we're going for a rustic vibe) so the pieces look good in our home in the meantime and I wouldn't consider it a loss if I ended up changing my mind later!

I started right away, nothing crazy but if I come across something i like on offer I'll get it, I'm trying to get everything as cheap as possible rather than paying full amount last minute!

I didn't. I'm not much of a DIY. I knew it would end up costing me twice as much money and spend twice as much time, to try to do it. I left everything to a pro.

I've bought NOTHING yet! A lot of researching and narrowing down choices. I plan to start ordering things in September! I really want to stick to my budget as much as possible so I want to have a very good estimate of everything needed before I start shopping.

I started to buy and look but I'm being very, very cautious. My mom bought us toasting flutes and matching wine glasses on sale from Pier 1. We are looking for gold charger plates as well. I want to collect things on sale but I'm being careful to buy things I know 100% for sure I will use. My mom is collecting and brainstorming items to use for my bridal shower that can be used for the wedding as well.

I did lots of online "window" shopping first. But I refused to buy any decor items until we had our contract for our venue signed. Now I buy little bits at a time for different things. Centerpiece items mostly so far. And I just got my stuff for my card box yay!

We started ASAP. It was so much easier to deal with in advance, rather than waiting til the last few months.

We started as soon as we had the venue and knew the style of the wedding. I don't want to have to worry about anything as we get closer, so anything that I can get in advance .... I do.

One of our decor items is vintage white ceramic water pitchers. We've been collecting them as we see flea markets and garage sales. If you have items like that (things to collect) then I suggest starting sooner than later.
