When do items start to disappear off registry?

HLoop, on May 6, 2016 at 9:49 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21

Hi lovely ladies!

My mother and bridesmaids are throwing me a bridal shower on May 21st so its quickly approaching! Because I live in a small town with very few stores, I registered at Macy's and Target which can be accessed online or by about a 30 minute drive to the nearest city. This is typical, as people who live in my town have to drive this distance to get to most big stores.

How soon did your guests begin purchasing off of your registry? I'm very thankful and gracious for anything I receive, but I'm getting a little worried that maybe my store choices were too difficult for people to buy from. Not many of my gifts have been purchased yet. How soon before the day did your registry begin to dwindle?

Lol probably the day before.. Unless they order online and ship I'm sure you'll get a bunch in the next 2 weeks

I didn't see much movement until like, two days before my shower. Don't worry! Smiley smile

That's what scares me! And believe me, I'm "that" person who always waits until the last minute, so I'm the pot calling the kettle black.

I know that a lot of my older guests do not know how to order online, and if they don't feel like going to the store a couple days before then I will end up with a bunch of gifts not on my registry. Don't get me wrong, I'm VERY appreciative of anyone who spends their hard earned money to buy me a lovely gift. But my fiance and I need every single item for the home, because we don't have our own place together yet. I hope people stick to the registry Smiley smile

While I don't have an answer for your question I do have a comment. Your guests may be buying things from the registry but they aren't being removed because they didn't let the salesperson know they were from a registry when they made the purchase.

after the shower if you did receive items from the registry but they're still showing up as unpurchased online you can either delete the item from the registry or contact the store to have it marked as purchased. this avoids guests from double-buying things.

Honestly, don't worry about it. You picked big stores that have your registry online too and most people shop online anyway. For people who prefer to shop in person, they will likely wait until the weekend before. In all niceness, stop checking your registry... You're stressing yourself out for no reason.

You should stop checking your registry...if for no other reason than letting yourself be surprised by the gifts you'll open at your shower. If you check it constantly, you'll know ahead of time exactly what you'll be getting...where's the fun in that? But yeah, even if this was something to be concerned about, I think it's too early. If I were a guest, it's highly unlikely I would have already purchased your gift 2 weeks ahead of time. You're just making yourself crazy over nothing here I think.

You're overthinking it Smiley smile I also received a ton of gift cards at my shower, so that might be the case too! Just stop checking and enjoy the day!

I know, I know haha! I need to stop checking it. And I'm totally the person at Christmas who is strictly against opening gifts early because I love surprises. I don't know what I've turned into lol!

My shower was last Saturday and i was always checking for stuff to be marked off, we got like 3 things off the registry and a ton of money. Haha but the 3 things were marked off about 1-2 weeks before the shower! But a lot of my guests were flying in, so they had to get them early, i would say most people buy gifts 1-2 days before!

I'm not proud of it, but stop looking and don't worry. There are plenty like me! Smiley smile

We had a few early birds buy stuff right away, but mostly a day or two before my shower, haha. FH's mom actually bought us a lot of stuff because she said she felt bad nobody had gotten us anything off the registry when she checked early on, lol.

we also got a lot of gift cards to the store we registered at for our shower, which we're putting towards some of the bigger items.

I had a couple early birds but most of our gifts were bought the week of the shower, and even more the two days prior. Mine was just this past Saturday. Don't stress! My cousin even gave me a card with a note that she had completely spaced and that my present was just being shipped to me and I got it this past Tuesday. Smiley smile

Yeah, with Google and Amazon offering two day or even same day shipping, people can really wait till the last couple days, now.

    Stop looking! Be surprised!!!

I bought for my niece about 5 months before her shower. But I'm the person that wants first choice on the registries.

Just wait & see what you get. No fun in ruining the surprise. I shop the day of as do many others.

I had 2 gifts purchased the week before the shower. Everything else was purchased the night before, or the morning of the shower. Apparently my friends and family are a bunch of procrastinators! Lol
