When do we get our marriage certificate back after wedding?

I was wondering how long it takes to get your official marriage license back after the wedding. We got married almost three weeks ago(9/10) and our officiant said she sent it in right away(didn't say when, but she sent it). I still have not gotten the official marriage license yet and really would...

I was wondering how long it takes to get your official marriage license back after the wedding.

We got married almost three weeks ago(9/10) and our officiant said she sent it in right away(didn't say when, but she sent it). I still have not gotten the official marriage license yet and really would like it to come soon, so i can start the whole name changing thing.

For those of you who are married already, how long did it take to get yours back?

    In New Hampshire you need to request your marriage certificate from the Registry of Deeds. It doesn't come automatically.

    I'm sure this varies a lot from state to state. I would ask your officiant (assuming they are a professional) what you can expect for timeline. Then keep in mind that operations in many places have shifted due to the pandemic so folks may be working remotely causing delays, the postal service is an absolute mess right now and super slow, plus its the holidays, so allow some extra time.

    I got married on Nov 11, today is Jan 28th. I am still waiting and told it will be early March. So much for Los Angeles 8 week time I was quoted. Complete BS. nobody should have to wait 4 MONTHS!!!!! I have called twice now and talked to multiple people over there at the Recorders office. I would have never got married in LA County if I knew this. freakin ridiculous

    What does this mean? Did you bring the marriage license in yourself and then you went in and got the marriage certificate the same day?

    We got married 9/2..received marriage certificate in the mail 9/16. Exactly two weeks here in Virginia.

    I got married 8/11/23 and currently still waiting Smiley sad I got married in Los Angeles, CA
