When do you do sand ceremony in wedding?

Kristin, on March 23, 2017 at 6:25 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9

Has anyone done the unity sand? If so how did you guys do it? When did you do it?

Did you do the sand ceremony before or after your wedding vows and the kiss?

I made our unity sand set (pictured below). Now I just have to get the sand!

At the last wedding I went to they did it after the ceremony in the church. The pastor announced it and they let their two children take turns putting the sand in a jar.

FH and I are doing one with my daughter. Got these cute little jars from Michaels.

I'm doing a sand ceremony. I think it's really best for blended families. My kids are older, but they look up to my FH and love him as their dad.

I'm planning on doing a sand ceremony, but we haven't picked our set yet. We want to do it to include my son in the ceremony itself, so we will do it up front during the official ceremony so he can come stand with us.

My couples typically do the sand ceremony after the wedding vows and ring exchange. Your wedding officiant should be able to provide verbiage options associated with this unity ceremony. Best wishes!

We poured the sand into a frame. Turned out pretty cool.

I've heard lots off officiants that recommend doing your unity ceremony (sand ceremony or otherwise!) right after your vows! You can ask your officiant how they normally handle things, but they'll probably have an easy transition from your vows and the exchange or rings to your unity ceremony. They are all essentially demonstrations of unity, so they flow together well! Smiley ring

I'd recommend this order for your wedding ceremony:

    Vows

    Exchange of Rings

    Sand Ceremony

    Pronouncement of Marriage

    The Kiss

    Closing Remarks

    Recessional

You can also do the sand ceremony after the pronouncement of marriage and the kiss, but I think most guests are used to the kiss signifying the ceremony is almost over!

We didn’t use sand for our unity but dirt for our love fern/tree instead. Lol. We did ours right after exchanging vows and rings.
