When do you RSVP no?

How many times have you had to RSVP no, and what were the reasons? Had you already committed to another event that day, or are you balancing travel, financial concerns, or even how close you are with the couple?

1/9 RSVP'd no. She was a high school friend of my FH and neither of us are that close with her. We would have had to travel for it but that wasn't a deciding factor although it is the reason we gave.

We've never responded "no" to a wedding. Our outlook on it is that it's clearly important to that couple for us to be there for their big day, so we make it happen!

The most recent decline I had to make was when a wedding was occurring on a weekend I was going to be out of town. My FH was able to attend though, so he went solo to represent. I travel a lot so the few times I’ve had to decline are usually because I won’t be in town.

I only RSVPed NO once because the wedding was a destination wedding and I didn't have the money to go.

I don't think I've ever RSVP'd no. I was unable to make a couple of cousins' out-of-state weddings, but they were informal invites. I didn't have enough vacation time to go, and am not very close with the cousins.

We have declined two invites & we sent them immediately - one was a family member who was getting married in California (we are in NJ) and we just couldn't swing it the other was a distant family member who was getting married on the same day as my best friends surprise birthday party I was helping throw for her.

I've only RSVP'd no to two weddings (One I haven't actually yet but I know I won't be able to make it once the invite comes.)

1- I got an invitation over TEXT THREE days before the wedding. I had obviously been B-listed, and invited at the very last minute. I was probably even C-listed! I said no, that I was busy. I was not busy lol.

2- I live in Michigan, and my cousin, who is getting married in September, lives in Indiana, about 4-5 hours away from me. Her wedding is on a Sunday and starts at 4pm. Because I'll be broke from my own wedding and because I have no PTO left, I can't afford to drive down there and get a hotel and I can't take another day off of work. I'll be sending her a gift, but that's it.

I have declined for only 2 weddings, One was my cousins that was 4 weeks after H and I's and just didn't want to add another trip in before our honeymoon which we leave the end of this month for. The second I declined again was another cousin's and we will be on our honeymoon! I love weddings though and hate missing out...FOMO!

We declined one wedding a few years ago. We received a Save the Date from my husband's (boyfriend at the time) co-worker then they ended up both relocating to new offices and didn't keep in touch as much, when invites were sent we were working on saving for a deposit on our apartment and furniture and it's typical where we live that you gift at least $100 when you attend a wedding so we really couldn't justify spending money on a hotel (the wedding was far) and gifting $100 when we had other things we were struggling to save for and since we were moving further we didn't really think we'd keep in touch with this couple anyway.

Now that we're financially stable, we are kind of looking forward to attending weddings! We had so much fun at ours and we were the first of our friends to get married so we're thinking there should be some other fun weddings in our future
