When do you start planning the Honeymoon?

Kristen, on July 11, 2016 at 3:08 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15

Our wedding is in September of 2017. Of course I'm already busy booking venues, caterers, Djs, etc, but when should I start planning the honey moon?

Our wedding is the same month and we already reserved our VRBO condo. Flights will open in a few months. If it is an extremely popular vacation you may want to start looking in the next few months. However I think even waiting until 6 months prior is fine too.

Our wedding is Sept 2016 and we booked everything for the honeymoon in March of 2016. Just beware the the earlier you book your flight its more likely they will adjust the times of the flights. We are going to Los Cabos and have one connection in Houston, TX (its the only way United works) and each segment of our flight has been changes at least once. It's a pain because we now need to leave a night sooner and book a second hotel in Houston.

My wedding is January and we booked flights in May and hotel a few weeks ago...however we are going to the UK so we did it then because of Brexit and the low exchange rate...my original goal was to have it done by end of summer/August soooo booked about 5 months prior?

We are also September 2017 but we won't be taking our honeymoon until early 2018 so I'm gonna worry about booking them next summer.

Our wedding is in December, but we aren't taking a honeymoon until May 2017. We haven't even booked our trip to Norway yet because most of the European airlines don't have their schedules made that far in advance. Right now the airline we want to fly only has booking until mid April available. So you can look, but like others have said, the flights may change times.

Don't even know when we will take it. Certainly not right after the wedding. I have dabbed in some websites but nothing official.

It depends on where you're going. If you're leaving the country then start booking early. If you're staying stateside then you can afford to put it off for a bit. Either way it will be hard to book flights this far out. But I would suggest doing all the leg work and research now since the closer it gets to wedding time the less time you'll have in your schedule for that.

We got married in January and just took ours in May. We gave ourselves some time for the chaos to die down and get everything in order beforehand.

We got engaged in December, and are getting married in November. We just planned our honeymoon. Like Friday night. Haha! Whenever is good for you is fine! Although you can only get flights so many days ahead of time.

@Pam I finally found my date twin! Yay! @Kristen M. We are booking in September of this year through Costco travel because they open the dates for September 2017 a year out. It's never too soon!

Airfare rates are not available until about 11 months out and hotels do not begin to offer sales or promos until about 6 to 9 months prior to your departure date. For this reason, we typically do not recommend booking your honeymoon any sooner that 6 to 9 months out. If you want to start earlier, we often start the brainstorming process and researching locations during this time! Good luck and have a wonderful time!!
