When do you throw the flower petals?

His Rib, on June 20, 2011 at 8:22 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

Inside the church or outside when we leave....The church is so small only five or six rows....do we give the petals to those on the outer aisle only???

I've never been to a wedding where guests throw petals. Flower girls have done that at all weddings I've attended.

    Niecy Nash did it....lol

I actually saw her do it and now I want to. My wedding is outdoor so they will do it as we walk back down the aisle. But I would talk to your church. They might not want that mess in the church.

I was thinking the first 3-4 seats on each side, bubbles for the kids.

I went to a wedding last year, where the flower girl threw the petals but guests were given flower petals too to throw.. and the guests threw the flower petals when the bride and groom are walking back down the aisle, leaving the ceremony.

It used to be that the Flower Girl threw the rose petals down as she walked....

BUT a new-ish trend has started where as the bride and groom are walking down after they are married (ceremony ended), the guests throw rose petals at them. No places that I am aware of allow the use of rice anymore. Some even say no sparklers. Some allow bird seed... But the popular one is bubbles so this is a nice alternative to the bubble thing.

Oh yes no rice makes things hard! we are doing pop out streamers that stay in the can (Cause the church wont allow a mess)

i would say doing them either as you walk back down the asile together or as you walk out to your limo (or other transportation)

In Belgium all people have to leave church after the ceremony before the newlyweds. Then people outside wait for the newlyweds and when they come out they start throwing petals.

That is what we were advised to do by wedding planner. They do not allow petals thrown out in foyer or outside, just inside the chapel as they are leaving. I bought pretty little sacks for each guest and will put petals inside and will have on table right outside chapel with little sign to take one with a attached note to each one telling them when to throw. It will be very pretty and make a great part of video.
