When filing a Texas marriage license, does it have to be filed in the same county?

Hermione, on January 10, 2020 at 7:58 PM Posted in Texas Planning 0 6
My fiance and I are getting married in Austin. We are trying to figure out if we have to file in Travis county (Austin) or if we could apply for the license in one county and file in a different county

Hey there, Hermione. I’m sorry I don’t have the answer to this for you. I’m sure the county clerk or courthouse will be able to advise and clear up any confusion Smiley smile

If I not mistaken you once you get your license you're able to get married in any county as long as you send it back to the county where you originally got it from...

I know back in 1981 my parents went to Parker County because my mom liked the way the certificate looked better than Tarrant County haha!
