When is it too early to really start planning?

Destiera, on June 7, 2019 at 10:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
I got engaged over a week ago and as I am continuing the planning, I’ve already got a date, venue, photography, and theme picked out. I’m hoping to get most of my stuff done by August as I will have no time to do anything this coming semester as I am fully booked with school.

I keep feeling like I am rushing because we still have about nine months till we get married. I’ve asked my fiancé this many times and he doesn’t feel like it is as he thinks I am going as planned for our time frame with everything going on after August, is it really too early?

I don't think you've started too early! You've got the basics down, so now you can relax for a little while Smiley smile

No not at all! You're doing this early so at least you have time to double check and research things. That time will fly by so fast too.

You're not too early all! You're on the right path with a nine month timeline. There's a lot that goes into planning a wedding, as you will soon realize. You have plenty of time, but get as much done as you can earlier on. Also, if you're planning to order your wedding dress from a boutique, you may want to go shopping for that sooner than later, as dresses can take many months to come in. Now, if you're just wanting to go somewhere like David's Bridal, you can wait much longer since they are able to churn dresses out super fast.

Wedding dress shopping is suppose to start at the end of the month since my MIL scheduled a bridal appointment for me but we’re going to Davids Bridal
tomorrow to look at Suits/Tux for my FH to figure out what color I want them to be. So much stuff, yet I feel like I’m rushing it lol. Thank you though!

I don't think you're rushing it! It probably just feels that way because you JUST got engaged and you have so much excitement running through your veins! The beginning stages of planning a wedding are the most exciting. Trust me... it will slow down in a few months and you'll feel like you don't have much to do for a little while. Then it will pick back up again the closer you get to your big day! Congratulations on your engagement by the way and happy planning! Definitely keep consulting these forums, as everyone on here has been super helpful to me!

You're not rushing at all. Get as much planning done now as you can so you don't have to worry about it later. Book all the vendors and get your dress, bridal party in order, etc. I was in a similar situation. I got engaged in March 2018 and did tons of planning before going back to school full time starting that fall. I didn't have to focus on wedding stuff until breaks.

Congratulations! Once you have that ring, it's game on and never to earlySmiley smile
❤ it's really up to the bride.
We are a year out and I've already booked all of the main vendors. I have my dress and veil, bridesmaids dresses and sandals, engagement pictures for save the date. I love the planning process.
    Enjoy!

GIRL! I also have all of those things done, but my wedding isn’t for another 16 MONTHS! I am also in the same boat as you though, I work full-time and go to school. In my opinion it’s definitely not too early to plan. From my short experience already, places book up fast! And I already feel less stressed knowing that I got the major things out of the way and just have to nail down the small details here and there along the way. I think it is going to make it far less stressful than if waiting until what others may consider the “right” time. Happy planning and good luck!

I’m nine months away from my wedding and just booked the vendor today. It’s never too early! If you get everything done, you can just relax until the big day! That’s what I plan on doing; well that and double check when I’m a month or two away.

That's not early at all! I got engaged in July 2017 for a Sept 2019 wedding and have been planning since August 2017! Its better to do more planning at the beginning so then you're not as stressed when the time gets closer.

I don't think it's too early. I booked those things the first month of my engagement too! I think planning early is a great idea, just know some things will have to wait until the month of.

Congratulations!! You’re right on schedule! We planned our wedding in 7-8 months and are getting married over Labor Day weekend. Continue booking your vendors so you can cross those off the lists! I found working on guest lists, mailing save the dates, and now (invites.. just purchased! Whew!) takes time! There will also be a mini slump after main vendors are booked and you’re not sure what to plan for! Use that time to plan for bridesmaids gifts, card boxes, hotel bags for guests (if needed!), etc. Basically anything you won’t have to rush on right before the big day!

You haven't started too early at all! I say you are right on track. 9 months out you are just cruising and that is awesome! The less you have to do in the few months before the wedding the better.

No, I don't think so. We planned a large portion of our wedding more than a year out.
