When should hair/makeup artist arrive??

Kee, on December 8, 2019 at 1:50 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 10
Myself and 5 bridesmaids are getting our hair and makeup done. How long does it usually take?? My bus is picking us up around 1:30pm, so she should the two ladies arrive ? One will be doing everyone’s hair and one will be doing everyone’s makeup.

Help me 🙃

Your HMU am will tell you how much time they need and then you can plan that into your timeline. You just need to tell her what time you need to be ready.

Thankfully, HMU is coming to our wedding venue since we have to be at our venue at 8am to get the keys. Like a previous poster stated they will let you know what they will be arriving and how long they will take.

Hi Date Twin! You should call your HMU soon to get the details together for the big day and let her know the time of the bus! Normally the bride takes 2 hours for hair and makeup. My HMU said my moms makeup would only take her 30-40 min tops. I have only us two getting something done by her. I hope she has two girls going to cover everyone in time. They didn't state anything on the contract?

She did tell me 7am, which seemed super early. I wanted to just see what is normal. I was worried with getting ready so early before pickup at 1:30pm, will the makeup even last all the way to midnight!

Yay, 6 days for us !! The artist said 7am, but for some reason I felt like that was almost too early for a 1:30pm pickup. Yes two girls will be working in everyone. I’m sure she knows what she’s doing, but I just wanted others opinions. Have a wonderful wedding day !!

For 6 people, I'm surprised they aren't giving you a start time earlier than 7 am. If they are professionals, I'd trust the timeline they give you -- and I'd probably add some padding because I think it's pretty likely something will take longer than anticipated. It was just daughter and me getting our hair & make-up done (the BMs did their own), and my appointment was at 7 am so the HUMA could guarantee we'd both be done by 10:15. Daughter's hair and make-up took nearly 2 hours (and she'd had a perfect trial, so the HUMA knew exactly what the plan was).

We had 11 girls getting HMU, three makeup/hair people and we started at 7 am to finish by 1:15.

My ceremony was at 6pm, I had one girl for hair and one for makeup, they did my mom, my sister and myself and started at 11am and ended at 5:30pm, it takes time, allow for anything that may need to be redone. I mean you'll be hanging out getting ready and by the time you realize it, your about to walk the aisle and then bam its party time, lol! My make up lasted until the next day, lol I started doing shots with my sorority girls and friends since elementary school and did not get to properly remove my make up before passing out when we got back to the house we rented for the weekend. My hair also lasted all day and night too, even when my sister took off my veil and the 100 bobby pins it seemed to have all the while not messing up my actual hair style. A good HMUA will give you a start time based on what they think, yes it may be earlier than you think but its actually probably best to the let the pro make that call! I found my HMUA on thumbtack as well, I like in Southern California, Los Angeles and prices here were averaging about $700- $1,000 for the 3 of us, I found mine for $400 or both hair and make up. They did my trial and I loved it, they were fabulous! The make up artist still does my eye lash extensions
