When should i book a venue?

Alyssa, on January 9, 2022 at 2:17 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Hey everyone!

My Fiancée and I are planning to get married on October 13, 2023. With the New Year just starting, we have begun discussing further details and have started looking for venues. Is it too early to plan tours and tastings for venues? My mom is afraid that if we wait too long, our date will be taken for our top picks. October is a popular month and some venues already have our date booked.

Thank You!!

I don't think it's too early to start looking for a venue! Your mom is correct that if you wait too long, you risk your date not being available, especially since October is a popular month for weddings. I don't think you need to rush to book something, but I would certainly start the search soon and lock in your date (or at least ask them to put a soft hold on your date) once you find your perfect venue.

I think you could start looking now. A year and a half isn't too crazy early, especially if you're saying some already have that day booked.

I would definitely start touring venues! I got engaged in September and booked a venue within a week for our wedding in August 2023. A lot of people are booking for 2023 and I know that in my hometown, a lot of vendors are already booked for that year.

Book as soon as you can! Majority of 2020/2021 brides pushed dates to 2022 and 2023 on top of now recently engaged couples. Sept.-Oct. are extremely popular months.

Decide on your budget and guest list first, then look for a venue ASAP. They book up fast and you can’t hire other vendors until the venue is secure. If you don’t want to wait for next year then you may have to take a date that is available but that is not your top pick.

You can definitely start looking now! We booked ours 11 months before the wedding. This gave us plenty of time to space out the payments and work out all the small details (chair rentals, set up, rehearsal, etc).

Definitely start looking now! I'm getting married on 10/07/23 and our venue only had one weekend left for Oct when we inquired. I definitely felt crazy asking so early, but Covid has truly pushed a lot of plans back.

It did work out in our favor, as our venue will let us break it into smaller payments over time. Smiley smile

I booked the venue for my October 2022 wedding back in January 2021, we had a specific date we wanted and as you said October is very popular! We didn't have any issues booking that far in advance and now a year later we are still in love with our venue.

At least a year out. As soon as you find the venue you want, book it. We booked ours last year and our wedding isn't until 2023. We had the money ready and figured why not? It secures the date we want.
