Trinity, on March 24, 2021 at 10:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello All,

Is anyone getting married out of state? I will be getting married in FL in May. When should I fly down for my wedding? Thank you!

I’d say that it depends on what all you need to handle once you arrive. Our wedding is on a Saturday and we’re arriving in the other state on Thursday. We live in Cali and the wedding is in Nevada. So it’s not very far and we’re able to travel there a few more times before the wedding too. So there won’t be much of anything to do once we arrive.

I see, I will be traveling to FL next week as well to speak to the venue, coordinator, etc. I am traveling from DC to FL.

We live in northern AZ & our venue is in the Phoenix area which is 2.5 hours away. I’m taking the airplane shuttle down & renting a car this coming Monday (wedding is on Saturday) - he’s driving our car down on Wednesday. I have things planned each day (bachelorette party, shopping, rehearsal/rehearsal dinner) except for the day before. We’re getting our COVID test Friday morning then I’m doing a day of pampering!

Like everyone has said - it depends on your plans! Ideally I think it would be nice to fly in the night before your rehearsal dinner so you can get a great sleep and relax the next day (or get things organized and set up!) ❤️

For our out-of-state wedding, we drove down the Tuesday night before our wedding day. We both were able to take that Wed-Fri off work to host our families and finish up all the final details like the seating chart and welcome bags. Also some of our bridal party was arriving Thursday night so they could golf before the rehearsal dinner. All of those factors led us to decide to head down early!

My wedding venue was 6 hours away from where I live. I arrived at the venue with one of my sisters on Wednesday night. My mom and my other sister arrived on Thursday morning and we all hit the ground running upon their arrival so we had 2 full days to tie up any remaining loose ends before the wedding on Saturday. (However, we had done all of our personal pampering (mani/pedis, etc.) before we arrived at the venue).
