When should i get my nails done?

Courtney, on June 3, 2021 at 2:35 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 12
I’m struggling to figure out when I should get my nails done. According to google it says 1 - 2 days prior to the wedding. Ideally I’d love to be able to get them done Thursday. My worry is that they will chip until the wedding day. Reason being is I’m helping set up for my wedding (probably doing it all but with help) lol I’m a perfectionist so I want it done a certain way. But that’s not what we are here to talk about lol I originally was just going to glue on nails, but I recently learned of “Dip” nails ... I think I heard that right. They last about 2-3 weeks I believe. Is this better then Gel? I want something harder then a gel nail but not an acrylic nail. My thought is if “Dip Nails” is harder to chip then I should be okay getting them done Friday. However Friday is crunch day we have to finish setting up inside for our reception the next day (Saturday) on top of that Friday night we have a rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Thoughts and advice very much appreciated ♥️

If you aren’t used to having your nails done, I’d get them done Friday. Dip is better than gel in my opinion, but some salons do use acrylics with the dip, depending on the length of your nails. If you’ve gotten your nails done a lot, I think you’d be okay to go Thursday.

If you don't want to risk any chips, a dip manicure is a good option. My dip manicures always last without any chips until I choose to take them off like 3 to even 4 weeks later - just know that your nails will look a little funky because the tops need to be filed a little (like with acrylics) so the stuff sticks to them.

You definitely can get your nails done Friday and it won't be a problem with either Dip, Gel, or Acrylic. I literally keep my nails done ALL THE TIME, they shouldn't chip in 2 days even with you moving and setting up things.

A dip manicure is the best option. Keep in mind you will have to go to the salon to have them remove it - you really can’t chop it off.

I got mine done the day before the wedding. If you are setting up and doing DIY stuff before the wedding it will be very hard with fake nails. I was useless with my nails haha I couldn’t open anything! It was totally fine but just a warning!

I've had the same thought! Going to go the gel route which I have heard last really well!

I actually just got dip nails for the first time last weekend as a trial for the wedding. If you've never had it done I would just caution you that they have to buff your natural nails to get the formula to stick. In my case she used a drill which freaked me out and I regret doing it. If you're ok with your natural nails taking a hit then I would say dip nails would be probably the most durable option. Mine still look perfect a week later and I have not been careful (they are pretty thick, especially if you're not used to that). I might try gel nails for my wedding since I didn't like the drilling for the dip and it's still pretty durable apparently.

How would a french manicure be for a bride? The one and only time I got gel it was awful trying to get my nails redone. I'm planning on getting my nails done the day before the wedding and am probably not going to be involved in the set-up.

Dip all the way! I get dip done every 2-3 weeks and those suckers aren't going anywhere. They are very sturdy and can withstand a lot. especially if your nails are not super long. Currently, my dip nails are going on 4 weeks, and they are still on! Totally recommend!

I get dip nail manicures once a month, they last that long for me. I plan on getting mine done for the wedding on Thursday too since wedding on Saturday.
