When should i receive my Wedding Photos back?!?!

Tracey, on February 10, 2020 at 9:14 AM Posted in Married Life 0 8

Hi all! My wedding was 11/29/19. Everything went great and my photographer sent us about 20 sneak peek photos within 24 hours after the wedding. Her and I never discussed a timeline for when the photos would be ready. Timing is not listed in the contract either.

The real zinger is that she was 8 months pregnant at my wedding and just had her baby Jan 2, 2020.....

Its been just over 10 weeks since my wedding. When do you think is acceptable to ask for an update/timeline? Should I give her the typical 12 weeks for maternity? I just feel uncomfortable because she was a high school friend (we didn't stay in touch, I just love her photography style!).

What do you think?! I'm definitely over thinking this..

Usually a deadline for delivery is included in the contract, but if yours didn’t have one I’d give her a few more weeks and then reach out. Most photography contracts we looked at had 6-12 week turnaround times depending on the photographer’s schedule and the time of year the wedding took place in.

I would check back with her now its been over 10 weeks and you should have your pictures by now. I do understand she just had a baby 5 weeks ago but you still should have an idea on when you will have your pictures.

Our photographer was a mad woman and got ours back in 3 days but I know pretty much all other photographers take months to get theirs done. It should say what her time frame is in your contract. If that has passed, then I would reach out as new mama brain has probably set in lol

I don’t see any problem with shooting her a nice email now just asking for a timeline. Maybe congratulate her on the baby, say you understand she must be crazy busy, but you’re just wondering when you can expect the photos back. It’s totally reasonable to just ask when you can expect them especially since there was no timeline listed in the contract.

Not having a turn around time in your contract would have been a red flag for me. I would send her a nice email asking for a status update on the photos. 10 weeks is a pretty long time. Most brides, including myself, get/got their photos back within 8 weeks.

I'd probably give her the 12 weeks and then ask.

I got my wedding photos back about 5-6 weeks after the wedding.
