When should i send save-the-dates?

Cali, on August 27, 2021 at 2:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hey y’all! My fiancé and I got engaged this past May, but are deciding to wait until June 2023. When do y’all think we should send “save-the-dates”? We were thinking this winter, but I don’t know what is too soon or late. Let me know what y’all think!

Save the dates are usually sent 6-8 months prior to your wedding date. If you are going to get married in June 2023, save the dates would be okay to send between October 2022 - December 2022.

Generally, you want to send save the dates 8-12 months before the wedding - make sure you only send them to people you absolutely must have at your wedding - there are many, many posts on here mentioning that people have sent a save the date to someone and no longer wish to invite them.

I'd send them no sooner than a year before the wedding if it's a destination wedding. If most of your guests are local to your venue I'd say 6-8 months. We didn't even send them for my 1st wedding because the farthest people were coming from was 2 hours away. We did invitations only.

I would say a year especially when a lot of people are planning on getting married in 2022 and 2023. I'm sure a lot of people also plan on traveling and stuff so it gives them a heads up and they can plan around your wedding if need be.

Anytime between 6 and 12 months, as soon as you get your venue booked but you have your guest list finalized because they cannot be revoked.

If you have a lot of guests who will have to travel, do it 10–12 months before. If everyone is local, do 6–8 months. Definitely too early to do it now; people will just lose the cards or throw them out.
