When should reception candles be lit?

Valerie, on July 25, 2016 at 5:24 PM Posted in Planning 1 3

Hi everyone!

I am less than a month away from the big day and trying to work through all the little details! Anyone have any advice on when candles at the reception should be lit by?

My ceremony and reception are both outdoors and located on the same property. The location of the reception will be closed off to guests until after cocktail hour is finished. The ceremony will begin at 3:30 pm, with cocktail hour around 4:20 pm, and then the reception starting at 5:30 pm or so. Each of our 19 tables will have at least 3 candles. What time should I make sure our Day-Of Coordinator and additional set-up help have the reception candles lit by?

Thanks!

I would think your DOC would know what time would be best.

Our caterer lit the candles, I didn't give a thought.
