When should rsvp deadline be?

Brianna N, on May 14, 2019 at 9:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

So, our wedding is October 12th. I'm trying to figure out when to set the deadline for guests to RSVP. One month before? 2 weeks? Ughhh! Please let me know what you are doing/did, and how its working/worked for you! Thank you!

It depends how far out your vendors will need final headcount. My venue (all inclusive so they do the catering and rentals and everything) doesn't need to know final numbers until 1-2 weeks before the wedding so my RSVP date is 3 weeks before the wedding. I have that extra week for stragglers and to track down anyone I have not heard from.

I did a month from my wedding. That gave me 4 weeks to follow up with everyone to get the stragglers, give numbers to anyone who needs them, etc.

I would do 1-2 weeks before your final headcount is due to your vendors.

Give yourself enough time to catch up with the people that need a reminder.

Our venue needed numbers by the 8th of the month for our wedding on the 18th. We had RSVPs due by the 1st of the month.

Date twins! We need to get a final number to the caterer 30 days in advance, so we set September 7.

Another date twin here! Our RSVP date is Sept 13.

We need to give our venue our “best guess” 30 days out. Then, we can increase this number up until 10 days before the wedding, but we can’t decrease it. We have a minimum of 100, so at the 30 day mark, I’m just going to tell them 100.

My wedding is September 28th and we set the RSVP Date for August 31st. This is because final numbers are needed 2 weeks before the wedding so I gave myself an additional 2 weeks for any last minute or late RSVPs I will need to follow up on.

I say anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 weeks is fine depending on when final numbers are needed and how comfortable you are with following up with those who fail to RSVP by the deadline.

Date twins! I am doing September 20th for mine which is 10 or 11 days before my final head count is due (October 1st). Hope this helps! I am sending mine out August 1st. So that gives guests about 7 weeks which is right on target for 6-8 week mark.

Some people say it depends on what day your wedding falls on as well. Mine is on a Friday so I am sending it out a little earlier so if people need the time off they will hopefully have enough time to ask Smiley smile good luck!

We did three weeks before, since most vendors don't need a final headcount until a week before the wedding. 3-4 weeks before is pretty typical. Check with your vendors first, though, in case they need more time.

4 weeks was perfect for us. It gave us time to follow up with people and finalize the list and make the seating chart because it was due 2 weeks before the wedding.

Maybe around the first week of September? Could keep it easy and do September 1st.
You are getting so close congrats!
