Savvy October 2022

When should you start planning❓ Especially with the pandemic going on

My wedding date is October 2022 and it will be in Vermont (I don’t live in VT). I see a lot of people moving their dates around and vendors now booking for 2021 & 2022. I honestly would like to start now but I don’t know if it’s still to early! Ugh help please❗️

October 2022 bride, too! Super stressed about securing vendors, as the venues we visited had little to zero availability that far out!

You could definitely get your engagement photos done if you're itching to do something wedding related, there's nothing more fun than finding the perfect clothes to wear, scouting for the right location(s) to have your engagement shoot, and looking for the right photographer as well. Doing this will also give you a chance to look for the photographer you're going to use in the future.

I’m getting married in June of 2022 and I started planning immediately after I got engaged in October. I just didn’t want to deal with the stress of competing with brides that may have postponed from 2020 and I didn’t want to leave anything until the last minute. A lot of vendors I spoke to appreciated the fact that I reached out earlier than later to start the ball rolling since a lot of them were hoping to rebuild business and are eager to plan ahead with me! I already found my dress, too! Lol! I say go for it and get a head start, especially with potential venues.

I live in Vermont. The best vendors will book up early for October 2022 so I’d nail the big ones down sooner rather than later!

I’m getting married in July of 2022 and I’m going to officially start planning in the new year 2021! Want to be officially prepared!! I originally had 2021 set but the pandemic threw that off much like the other future bride’s here. I don’t think it’s too early to book your venue at the least I could be an idiot for thinking that but that’s my plan I don’t want to lose my date to another pride rescheduling 🙂

It's advisable to book now for a venue as slots are getting full day by day. 2022 may have many slots for you to decide which date you want to book but it's better to be early than late. Smiley smile

I don't think it is too early to book the big, important things (ie: venue, photographer, caterer). The rest you can probably wait a little while longer to work on.

Omg! You guys are the best and helped me put my mind at ease! People kept telling me that “I GOT TIME” , when I knew with this pandemic happening that things were going to get crazy. I really appreciate the future and now brides! Let’s keep helping each other out all 2021!! It’s great talking to others that are going through and went through the same things ❤️

Congrats! I am in the industry and I can tell you definitively that I am booking into October of 2022. September, October and the first 2 weeks of November are the busiest time of the year. With most of the 2020 brides moving to 2021, a lot of new brides are booking 2022 because there isn't much left for the fall of 2021. Your best bet is finding your venue and booking it as soon as you can! Best wishes for a wonderful event!!

I have never been a fan of planning more than 12 months in advance b/c circumstances change even before the pandemic. People move, lose jobs, get pregnant, relationships change, businesses go under, etc. There are posts all the time on this forum about people "stuck" inviting folks their no longer friends with, getting a new dress b/c a pregnancy happened, finding a new photographer because the first one flaked, etc. Booking everything early does not automatically remove the stress associated with planning a wedding and personally I think it simply extends it b/c so much can change. I know a lot of brides are rebooking 2021 and into 2022. However, we still are nowhere through this pandemic. At our current vaccination pace, it will take us 5+ years to vaccinate our population of 330 million people. (Let's hope we drastically scale up distribution and vaccination.) Also, many businesses have barely survived and may not survive another full year. Finally, most businesses have eliminated covid as a reason to cancel, and if you put down deposits and the business folds, you could lose all your money and still be left planning. I would wait until at least the summer to plan and see how the pandemic continues to be addressed. Or consider planning a wedding under your states current or mid-reopening phase gathering restrictions (i.e. approximately 50 people for most states.) In the very least, read your contracts carefully and take note of cancellation clauses. Finally I strongly advise against prepaying vendors, and I would avoid large deposits if possible.

It's definitely not to early!!! Places do book 1-2 years out so it's a good idea to start planning. If nothing else it will ease your mind.

October is a very popular month for weddings and things book up very quickly. Like you had said, people are having to move their weddings because of the pandemic and more and more are doing it. I would start taking a look at venues and vendors to get an idea of what you're looking for and see if they are available for a few dates you have in mind to have the wedding.

I'm getting married in August 2022 and some vendors I've talked with are already booking that far out! I have been wary of scheduling too much because there is a lot of uncertainty, but I'm super Type A and adore planning. I have my dress, and our venue and photographer booked!
