When to book a cruise?

Candace, on July 29, 2019 at 11:12 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9
Hello all! FH and I decided today that we want to do a cruise for our honeymoon! Neither of us have ever been on a cruise, and we don’t know anyone else that has either. When is the best time to book a cruise? It’s a little over a year away, should we book now to ensure our reservation or wait to see if the prices go lower? (We are all for saving money where we can). Thanks in advance!

Hi! We booked a cruise for our honeymoon, it depends where you want to go, we had to move our cruise dates because we found out it’s hurricane season in the Caribbean. Cruises are amazing because it actually feels like a vacation and there’s always things to do.

The prices only change depending on the months you decide to go so I would probably look into what the prices are now for whatever months you're looking into. You can also put a down payment to reserve your trip so you can see if you'd be able to make the deposit now or later. Wherever you decide to go, just make sure that it's the best weather.

The last thing you want to do is be stuck on the ship or weather too bad that your cruise gets cancelled. I've been on ONE cruise and that was to Mexico with my FH and his family. That just so happened to also be the same cruise this this little sneak decided to propose to me so it was definitely memorable in so many ways.

Cruises are great depending on where you go and how long you plan on staying. Definitely look into any excursions that they offer as well! There's plenty of fun activities offered on board too so you don't have spend loads of money off the ship the whole time.

I dont believe prices will go lower as you get closer. The only way to get them lower is to go during a lower demand time. We put a deposit on our cruise 1 year and 2 weeks out. We're making small payments on it monthly til it has to be paid in full.

We booked a cruise back in 2013. We booked in May for September, however the room rate for the cruise did change & was actually lower than when we booked. We were able to contact them & get a larger room @ the same price.
    We used Norwegian Cruise line.

We've done several cruises, including one this past fall with friends. We booked pretty early because they were running some kind of promotion with a little discount, so the prices actually went up after we booked (and likely back down right before the cruise to fill rooms). I wouldn't wait until the last minute unless you're ok with a backup plan, but I'd probably start poking around now, signing up for promotional emails, and jumping on it if you see a good deal.

Sometimes cruises get cheaper but only as it gets closer to the sailing date & that's only if they have rooms they need to fill. The earlier you book the more cabin options you have to choose from. We just went on a cruise & got an inside cabin room to save money - it was very disorienting bc there weren't any windows so I definitely recommend outside cabin or balcony. FH & I booked our honeymoon cruise last month for May 2020.

    Good luck!!!

One time I booked a cruise for May sometime in like late Feb or early March and the price did lower a bit later. I called the company and they gave me a room upgrade. So if you do book and you happen to see it lowered in price, maybe they'll offer you something for the difference.

I would wait for the next holiday weekend and book it, but keep an eye on the price until then so you have something to compare it to. Most companies typically offer a sale of bogo 50% off or something over the holidays or a spending bonus while on the cruise.

My FH and I booked our cruise for 12/24/2020 already! We have both cruised before and wanted to ensure we got a balcony room to splurge a little bit! When we found THE cruise, I signed up for the companies promotional emails to see when they were running a special. A lot of it also depends on the time of the year. If you are going when most people would be able to take vacation (i.e. kids are out of schools on breaks or over holidays) they tend to be more expensive and fill up faster. But if you are going in the "low" season, you should have more time to shop around and book a bit later.
