When to book Day of Coordinator?

Crystal, on February 18, 2014 at 6:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

I recently had a friend recommend a wedding coordinator; she's using her as her Day of Coordinator and loves her. I want to reach out right away, but should I wait? My fiance thinks I'm crazy, we have so much figured out already and the wedding isn't until May next year. Should I contact coordinators now, or wait? If I wait, how long?

I think it partly depends on your location, but you'll probably be safe if you reach out 6months to a year out.

Have you booked your venue yet? Some places will provide a day of coordinator, so I would definitely check with them first.

Also, tell your fiancé that the whole point of the day of coordinator is to have someone there the day of. No matter how much you plan in advance, there are things that have to be done the day of the wedding/problems arise, and it's nice to let someone else worry about it.

I'm on my phone so I can't see your wedding date. If you have a popular wedding month is book between 6-8 months out. I booked mine last week and I'm 5 months out. As long as you're willing to make the deposit and commit, I'd say go for it!

Venue is booked, and it's not a "standard" wedding venue, so no coordinator is provided (which is part of why I'm worried).

Fiance is on board to have a Day of Coordinator, but he thinks I'm crazy for wanting to contact her now when the wedding isn't until May 2015!

Contact now since you know you want a specific person. You don't lose anything by booking her early.

I would definitely contact ASAP if you know who you want already.

Just sent in my message - they're running a promotion right now to coincide with the Olympics. If I book before the end of March I 'll save some money, hooray!

Just say you want to book her in as a vendor but have no details at this point of course. Do tell her as much info as you can as we just locked in our photographer just because of recommendations only to later realize the guy is inflexible and really likes to stand his ground =\ and seems to claim certain things are his style when his portfolio does not reflect the 'style'.

If your wedding is in 2015, I am sure they will be running another promotion. Personally, I would wait.

Ugh, now fiance is thinking it's not "worth it". I sent the link to their site, and somethings are worded a little vaguely... He's taken the stance of "I'll take care of it, and we can buy more workout equipment". I did convince him to at least have a quick meet up with her, see what she has to say and if she can change his mind...

When is your friend getting married? Can you wait until then, see the DOC in action, and then decide about booking her?
