when to change into second wedding dress?

CN&AK, on December 16, 2014 at 5:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 23

A bit of a wedding planning mode today...

So, I just bought my 2nd dress online since Saks is having a sale... it's strapless, gold and mermaid,

my 1st one is blush and poofy and cap sleeve.

When should I change into 2nd wedding dress? I am thinking after cake cutting before the garter and bouquet toss????

Happy holidays,

CN

I think I would do it after the first dance, because I would want pics dancing with my husband in my wedding dress

I have never understood having two dresses, but it makes the most sense to me to change between the ceremony and the reception.

Once you take the time to change dresses I'd just stay in that dress.

Most brides that I've seen do it have done it before the reception (so they enter and do the first dance in the second dress).

After the 1st dance, prior to cutting the cake. I wanted to be sure that at least one of my pro photos would have a photo of me in my short & sassy dress. Well, I have a couple of beautiful photos of me in my reception dress, 1-cutting our cake 2- for the garter removal.

I'm having 2 dresses, a bridal sari for the ceremony (FI will be in a sherwani) and a wedding dress for reception. I plan on changing right before the ceremony so when we are introduced I'm in my wedding dress and he will be in a suit.

I've been trying to figure this out as well. I was thinking either before the reception or after the first dance.

I have been trying to figure this out as well, I have two dresses, two veils and my hairstylist who is a friend of mine wants to do two hairstyles. I have a reason for buying two dresses, they are both antique ( from the 1910s and the 1930s), so they are delicate!, I have two veils since they are both heirlooms. I think I will change during cocktail hour, I do want pictures in both dresses!

I usually see 2nd dresses being worn for the grand entrance so probably before the reception. I'm totally getting this information from what I've seen on T.V.

I think I will change right before cake cutting in to my other dress. I won't be comfortable dancing in a fitted gown and I'm trying to get down lol. We are doing our cake cutting as a transition to party time for the rest of the night. Garter and bouquet toss will happen probably happen before that. So it's just music, dancing and drinking for the rest of the night and I'm done with all the wedding logistics.

We will be having the first dances right at the start of the reception. I plan to change into my reception dress right after the dances. Dinner will be starting, so people will be preoccupied and I will just slip out, change and then get my dinner.
