When to go on Honeymoon..?

Shell'a, on November 12, 2021 at 7:23 PM Posted in Honeymoon 4 18

How soon after the wedding do you go on a honeymoon?

My fiance and I were thinking the following day of our wedding, because we live in texas and family will be coming here for wedding. We have two kids 6 & 8 and figured right after wedding would be perfect bc we will have my parents stay and keep our girls while we go on our honeymoon.

Just not sure how long people usually wait... I know there's no right or wrong, just wanting people to share their stories. Smiley smile

Thanks.

We went two days after our wedding. It gave us a day in between to recuperate and make sure we were all set for the honeymoon.

We left for our mini moon At 5am the next morning. Yes some time to sleep in and recharge would have been nice. But it was also so nice to tell people we’d only been married less than 24hrs when they asked. Being in that just married bubble, away from home, celebrating was amazing! I wish ours could have been longer. To me, it seems like the longer you wait the more that feeling fades and it becomes just another vacation with your now spouse.

Yessss! I agree, my fiance said the same thing when i asked him if he wanted to wait or go right away. He said go right away, that way we'd still have that super fresh feeling and can tell people we JUST got married. Smiley heart Thats so sweet, glad that y'all got to experience that. So beautiful.

We are going to Hawaii and chose to wait a week. My fiancé wasn’t vaccinated when we booked and he didn’t want to test on our wedding day. If you’re fully-vaccinated it should be fine to fly out the next day, just remember you will have to do their entry process requirements before leaving.

What are the details on that? We’re not getting vaccinated.

We went the next day because my husbands birthday was the next day but I think giving yourself a day you pack the decorations away and relax is ideal.

I think you have to show a negative test that has been done within two days of travelling or something like that. If you search Google you should be able to find more information and some of the restaurants on their websites are saying what they are expecting for people to be able to enter them as well.

Yeah I’m thinking to go either the day after or the following day (2 days) after wedding.

We were originally going to go a week after our original date. However, due to COVID, we’ll be going on our honeymoon next July, almost 2 years post wedding. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m sure there will be some kind of change by your wedding date, but as of now, unvaccinated travelers to Hawaii have to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival. Just something to keep in mind as you plan. https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel/faqs/

We are leaving 2 days after our wedding. We will need a day of rest in between as I know we will be up late, and the flight to the Dominican leaves at 6am! I thought of doing it like you because we also have two young kids that my out of town parents could stay with, but we are just sending the kids home with them the day after the wedding. As of right now, the Dominican does not require a COVID test before entering so we don't have to worry about that (unvaccinated), but you would need passports.

We're waiting almost an entire month to go. Our wedding is August 13th, and our lease is up August 31st, so we decided that trying to move, get married, and go for a honeymoon all at once was going to be a nightmare. We are also taking a 2 week honeymoon instead of one so that we can go see FH's European family members. This way we'll actually be with them both for my birthday and for our 1 month wedding anniversary!

Leaving within the following week is super typical, so I think what you're planning on doing makes sense!

We'll be waiting several months so we can go at a very particular time of year. We'll be getting married March 4th, 2023 but wont go on our honeymoon until August or September. We are planning on going to St. Lucia and want to see a cricket match for my fiance's favorite team, so we have to wait awhile. I dont think it will change the feeling or anything though since we havent been able to experience a vacation like that together anyway.
