When to order tables, chairs, etc??

Brooke, on September 1, 2021 at 11:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hi everyone! My wedding is in Jan 2022 and I'm wondering when exactly to order all the chairs, tables, furniture, etc. We are inviting 200 people but know not everyone will be able to come as with most weddings. I'm just concerned with COVID still being an issue that more people than normal will not attend, and I don't want to end up with empty tables/seats (and I don't want to pay for more than we need). We haven't sent out invites yet, but didn't do Save the Dates so we are planning on sending them in mid-October with an RSVP deadline of Dec 26. When should I actually bite the bullet and order these??

I’m assuming you’re renting and not buying? If that is the case, you can go ahead and order the max now. Once you have your final count you can call and take some away and not have to pay for them.
From what I’ve heard, you can always take away, but you can’t always add on. So better to have an order for extra and take away than not have enough.

I would talk with the rental company to see their timeline. I would order what you expect your number to be and then check with the rental company for how much time they need for changes.
I would also relook at your RSVP due date. It's really close to Christmas and as we all know people are really busy at Christmas time. I would also consider allowing yourself a little time between RSVP due date and the date when you have to provide your numbers to your vendors because you will have to call people about their RSVP.

We're getting married 5/20/22. I reserved what we might need 7/2/21. I have until 60 days before the wedding to cancel items and get a full refund. 30-59 days you get back 75% of your 50% deposit, 15-29 days you get half of the 50% deposit back... later than that no return of deposit.

You'll need to contact the rental company and see what their policy is, but I would reserve ASAP. So many people are rescheduling their 2020/2021 weddings for later, things are booking up fast.
